Re: Extracting audio with labels using chains
Unfortunately you can't do that with Audacity because Chains do not support "Export Multiple" and don't support "Analyze" effects. It "may" be possible to automate the process using a third party application such as AutoHotkey (https://autohotkey.com/). I don't use Wind...

Re: Crackling/clicks heard on all files
I've rechecked and it's definitely 2.1.1 I didn't think that Mint had 2.1.1 yet, or did you install it some other way than from the standard repository? When you talk about the same audio output, I'm not sure what you mean? It would appear that your computer has both Realtek ALC662 and HDMI. Is it ...

Re: Crackling/clicks heard on all files
Audacity Version: 2.1.1 I presume that is a typo (you can check the version number in "Help > About Audacity"). The fact that it was working and then it wasn't indicates that "something" has changed. We need to try and work out "what". Are you running short of disk spa...

That's unlikely if playback is ok in other applications.Fiddler64 wrote:Could it be a problem with ALSA?
Have you tried the "hw" option as suggested?

Re: Crackling/clicks heard on all files
What are your "Latency" settings in "Edit > Preferences > Recording"? The default "Audio to buffer" is 100. Smaller values may cause crackling. I presume that you are not using Jack? In the device toolbar , try setting the playback device to the "hw" option.

Re: Cannot play very short sound clip
A simple workaround is to add a new track (Ctrl+N) and generate a second or more of silence into it (Generate > Silence).

Re: What's the relationship between Hardware Gain control
What is the relationship between the hardware Gain Controller - the little slide wheel that can increase-decrease gain on the iRig Pro, and the actual quality of the recording? All microphones / pre-amps produce some amount of "noise" (hum, buzz, hiss). If the hardware gain level is low, ...

Re: Extracting audio with labels using chains
Audacity has no idea what the difference is between a verse and a chorus. I don't know of any program that can do that.

Re: low budget mic and speakers for conference calls
Hi bgravato, nice to hear from you again :) "Boundary mics" (also known as "PZM") are generally a good choice for putting in the middle of a table with people sat around. I don't know specific models in the cheap range, but they do exist. The Samson UB1 is of this type and Samson...
