Re: 2.1.2 thrashing hard drive
The default location of the temp file has changed. This was done because we received an increasing number of reports about security products deleting the temp files while Audacity is running and destroying the project data. To change the temp directory, go to "Edit > Preferences > Directories&q...

Re: Can't go above -6 dB
I don't think so, Michael is on Windows. It's basically an Audacity limitation that occurs with many but not all interfaces. Though Audacity 1.2 was sometimes reported not to have this problem, which I don't really understand. I'm pretty sure that it is "driver dependent". When Audacity i...

Re: Balancing levels
There are a number of different ways to do this. The "best" way depends on what exactly you are doing / why you need to do this. You've not told us that yet.jakleiss wrote:I have WAV files from different sources and I want to balance them so that they sound relatively equal in volume when played back.

Re: Can't go above -6 dB
Just a quick "historical" note. The "Split to Mono" option was specifically added to Audacity to help users that need to record mono sources using audio interfaces that record dual mono channels. A common use for this is for singer-guitarists to plug a mic into one channel and th...

Re: Audacity 2.1.2 on linux not usable for Arabic interface
Are you using the default "System" language setting in Audacity? We are aware of the problems with right-to-left language options on Linux and it is logged on the bug tracker for fixing. Unfortunately, even when this issue is fixed, the Arabic interface will still not be ideal because the ...

Yes, i agree the square brackets are really good for that.Gale Andrews wrote:I think the square brackets are a convenient way to create selections for labelling as region labels.
Re: heading
So far they ask only for stereo We really need to know precisely what they want to be able to advise you correctly. If they want "Stereo 16-bit Microsoft PCM WAV" the Audacity can do that, but we don't know if that is what they want or something different. Do your really need to use "...
Re: heading
what do you mean by ''if you have two blue waves married as stereo on the timeline''? Like this: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/m/images/c/cf/stereo_track_annotated_with_tddm.png http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audio_tracks.html Where did your Audacity project come from? Is it imported files...
