Re: Spectrogram - how to make it the default view upon openi
How is then the spectrogram constructed- based on a part of a data? Why? Audacity uses the frequency range that you set in Preferences, unless that frequency is greater than half the sample rate. If the upper frequency range that you set is higher than the maximum frequency possible for the sample ...

Re: Shape of portable vocal booth matters?
I'm just a little farther away than the distance my hand makes with all the fingers splayed open (I have a small hand) You can probably afford to get a little closer still. "Cardioid" microphones are "semi-directional". (The word "cardioid" means "heart shaped&quo...

Re: Spectrogram - how to make it the default view upon openi
In that example, the sample rate is 44100 Hz, so the audio "could" contain frequencies up to 22050 Hz. MP3 encoding generally removes upper frequencies and LAME supports custom filtering during encoding. Audacity has no idea what filtering was used when the MP3 was encoded, so the only way...

Re: Spectrogram - how to make it the default view upon openi
The last big issue is this: I've set "Maximum Frequency (Hz)" to 24000 so I can clearly see, if the file exceeds characteristics of a FLAC [which stops at 22000]. But depending on how a particular file actually looks in the spectrogram, it can be not clear enough. So is it possible to not...

Re: Workflow on mixing tracks
Can we now get an answer to the question, please? I thought i had already explained. The "mix down" is the same as the mix that you hear from the selected tracks. Case 1: Left channel above Right, Left channel has Solo button down, Right has Solo and Mute up. In this case, if you press Pl...

Re: Workflow on mixing tracks
I will have a stereo track and Split Stereo Track. I will mute one track and work with Envelope Tool on the other track (so I can hear that channel on its own). Then I will select both tracks and Mix and Render. I do not want one channel silenced, obviously. What is going to happen in your scheme? ...

Re: security for people using WINDOWS XP.
In the long run it would probably be less trouble to upgrade to Linux rather than all that to and fro to the library and back.

I don't understand. Is this on importing files, or recording or what? Is it a Windows only bug?Gale Andrews wrote:It's a bug, most likely in the PortAudio library Audacity uses. There is no setting - it should leave the balance alone.

Re: Charlie Brown (Peanuts) Teacher Voice
The main "effects" are: 1) band-pass filter, 2) Compression, 3) Distortion (probably in that order). Distortion can be achieved by using the Leveler effect on a strong setting (repeat the effect if necessary for a stronger effect. A band pass filter can be created with the Equalization eff...
