Re: different time in Audacity and other player

If I put ten numbers of exactly 3 minutes from the hard disk in Audacity to make one project, Audacity says I have recorded 29 minutes and about 30 seconds; If you put 10 tracks of exactly 3 minutes each, end to end in Audacity, the total length will be 30 minutes. If you put 10 tracks end to end i...

Re: Something else that confounds me ...

The peak level of that audio sample is -5.7 db. The target level is -3 dB, so we need to increase the level (amplify by a positive amount). 1. Select the track 2. Open the Amplify effect and set the "New peak amplitude" to -3 dB. 3. Apply the effect. If we re-run the ACX check on the entir...

Re: Workflow on mixing tracks

That's why I raised the question both here and on the developer's mailing list. There has so far been no respons...

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs

So in your opinion Dana_Tucker, would it be correct to say the -16 LUFS is the "de facto standard" for podcasts? Steve, it is not my opinion, this standard is PREACHED world wide by the top podcasting experts on the face of this earth! What I meant was that it is a "de facto standard...

Re: clipped original (?)

"Clipped" audio generally sounds "distorted" ("crunchy") like Flat tops / bottoms of the waveform may indicate "clipping" or may indicate that the peaks have been "limited" (see http://www.mediacollege.com/audio/processing/limiter/) The "problem...

Re: Something else that confounds me ...

Peak / RMS Getting both the peak level and the RMS level to meet the ACX requirement is one area that a lot of people have trouble with - not because it is particularly difficult to do, but because there are unfamiliar concepts to get your head round. Lets assume that you have edited your recording...

Re: GUI Interface Size

The current size (using needed toolbars) is 740 x 445 I've not checked the exact size in pixels, but that sounds about right for the minimum size. I could avoid having to buy a costly system with a 4K (3840x2180) display. A cheaper option may be to get an inexpensive second monitor. If you're using...

The "F" keys F1 to F6 change the tool that is being used. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tools_toolbar.html
