Re: monitoring play back through Zoom H4N with Audacity 2.0.
There is also a note in the Zoom manual that the USB interface works differently when 48000 Hz is selected, but it is vague as to what the differences are.

Re: Cannot understand Surround mixing in Audacity
As in: edit, export, listen? As in: [surround sound input file] ----talk ---blah ---blah ---SONG---more talk---blah---blah--- to: [surround sound output file] -SONG- In this case, all you need to do is to trim the same amount from the start of each track, and the same amount from the end of each tr...

Re: Something else that confounds me ...
You certainly "can" record into a computer without spending a vast amount of money, but there are potential pitfalls in doing so. 1) The microphone input in most PCs are invariably poor quality. They range from "poor" to "horrendous". Good microphone pre-amps, and the n...

Re: Cannot understand Surround mixing in Audacity
I don't see how you could possibly do surround in Audacity as there is no way to listen to your mix... What if you import a multi-channel (surround sound) file for editing? You can use Sync-Lock to keep the tracks synchronised during editing (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/sync_locked_track_g...

Re: Help for changing bit rate with Audacity
Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help > About Audacity"). If it's not Audacity 2.1.2 you can get the current version here: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ To export as MP3 you need to install LAME. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_a...

Re: Cannot understand Surround mixing in Audacity
It's not something that I do myself, but the manual page is here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/advanced_mixing_options.html The idea is that you can create a multi-channel audio file by "mapping" (connecting) the tracks in the Audacity project to the required channel numbers in the...

Re: Recent file Menu enhancement
I don't know the practicalities of coding that, but I like the idea of separate "Recent.." lists for opening projects and importing files.Robert J. H. wrote:It would be nice to have two distinct "Recent ..." entries for projects and other audio files respectively.

Re: Workflow on mixing tracks
In terms of the current behaviour, I added the bug report for no warning when some tracks are muted: http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1334. Thanks Gale. I'm not so sure about the dividing line between "bug" and "enhancement" but that's neither here nor there. I a...
