Re: Something else that confounds me ...
It's worth doing a "rough master" just to check that you're in the ballpark (it would be a tragedy to get to the end of the book and then discover that you're way off), but that "rough master" is really just for peace of mind. The final mastering is done at the end so as to ensur...

Re: Something else that confounds me ...
So now the next hurdle to understand a bit better is the sequence in which these files should be edited/mastered/finalized. At what point should things like compress dynamics or normalization be done? If you need to remove DC offset or reduce low frequency noise, do that first, otherwise it can cau...

Re: Removing one clear voice from a dialogue
If it is a multi-track recording with one voice per track, just mute or delete the voices that you don't want. That's too easy - it's not that. If All three voices are on the same track but only one voice is talking at a time, then you can isolate one voice by laboriously going through the recording...

Re: Newbie question regarding formant filter
Topic moved to Mac OS X board. The only ones that I know of for Mac are Autotune 8 and Autotune 8 live. The Live version is about around $250 whereas the full version is about $400. I don't think either of them work with Audacity but they should work in GarageBand (http://www.antarestech.com/product...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
- Open Audacity - import audio - enable spectral view in left track menu Can't do that. The option is greyed out. I'll assume that you mean 1) Open Audacity 2) Import Audio 3) Change the track view to "Spectrogram" 4) Enable Spectral Selection in Spectrogram Settings Frequency range is at...

Re: Recent file Menu enhancement
I agree that the current behaviour is quirky, but I think that it's at least in part because the recent file list does not handle projects and files separately. Projects are listed whether they are opened or saved, and imported audio files are listed, but exported audio files aren't. I think what we...
