Re: New Operating system compatible with new Audacity
The current version of Audacity is 2.1.2. I use it on El Capitan. There are some problems with accessibility issues for blind users, but other than that it works pretty well.

Re: fade- overlap trak?
Is it possible to fade out the last 15 seconds of a track, while having the first 15 seconds of a second track overlap, so you hear both tracks as they overlap ? Yes you can do that. It's called a "crossfade". One of the easier ways to do it is with the "Crossfade Tracks" effect...

Re: Create audio that is only on one side?
Even if I select 100% Left panning, the audio is still audible on the right side of my headphones and vice versa. That's a problem with either your headphones or playback system. If a track is panned 100% to one side, then Audacity will play that track through one channel only. Check your sound car...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
Apparently Peter does not want to use it though. If he did, he would know there was a spectral selection present even if in waveform view. I'm not keen on driving blindfolded either. If you have some better suggestion than a waveform display indication that there is a spectral selection, please mak...

Re: Latency fluctuating from run to run
The problem you describe is not "latency". Latency is the time delay between sound coming into the computer and being written to disk, and/or the time taken for audio data to be read from disk and played through the sound card, or the round trip from input to disk to output. Either way, it...

Re: Something else that confounds me ...
I've had the guy eat so many green apples he was hypnotized into thinking he was Johnny Appleseed, ROFL :D The only way I've found to fix it so far is by the hunt&delete method. Another slightly less drastic, but no less arduous technique, is "hunt and filter". One of our developers i...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
In that case perhaps you should support my view that there should be a small widget displaying high and low frequency when in a waveform view. We already have a widget that displays the high and low frequency selection. It's called the "Spectral Selection Toolbar". If you think that looks...

Re: Scarlett Solo + Shure 55SH II, Low volume but useable
Macs do not generally support changing the input level from USB devices. On Windows and Linux, changing the input level from a USB device is generally accomplished by digitally scaling the input signal (like using "Amplify" in Audacity). With special hardware and drivers, it's not 'impossi...

+1 from me too, but I think I've already given my +1 for that (vote soon, vote oftenRJVB wrote: I guess you could file a feature request if you are really interested in such a smaller control toolbar; I'd +1 it.
