Re: RMS Normalizing

Could you post a short sample at about the 12:30 mark. I see there is a big spike there. Also, when you make a screenshot for the forum, please reduce the size of the Audacity window first so that the image fits better in the forum page - it saves a lot of scrolling for those trying to read your pos...

Re: fade- overlap track?

I'll have a go at making some illustrations. Do these make the difference any clearer? They are intended to show how the tracks will fade ("constant power" fade) for two sequential songs - the first song is shown as blue shading, the second song as green shading. The red dotted line outli...

Re: fade- overlap track?

I haven't seen those It's not usually stated in the topic title, but it quite regularly comes out when trying to clarify what the user's workflow is. it's one of the common reasons why some users like to work ...

Re: RMS Normalizing

Your recording level is a little low. That means that you will need to amplify the recording, and that will raise the noise level as well as the signal. A good level to aim for in your recording is for a maximum peak level of about -6 dB. That gives you a waveform of about half the height of the tra...

Re: issue with mouse bindings and Apple Screen Sharing

I thought that the Mac OS X sub-forum on the Audacity forum was the place to talk about my issues. yes it is, but, unless someone else on the forum has: A Mac Mini A MacBook Pro with El Capitan 10.11.3 A keystroke-mouse with wheel controls (specifically: "⌘-wheel up" to zoom in) AND they ...

Re: I need advice on editing BMP images and adding color pal

This part of the forum is a place for artists to show and share artwork related to Audacity. We are not able to give advice about graphics software or how to use it. You could try using your preferred Internet search to find a graphics forum. I'll close this topic now as we are not able to help with...

Re: Audio Scrubbing doesn't stop after releasing mouse butto

However for me the deal breaker is that I have to keep the mouse pointer moving to keep playback going. Not sure exactly what you mean Gale, or what your expectations are, but the feature is called "scrubbing" which gains its name from the to and fro action of using a scrubbing brush (in ...

Re: Harmonic distortion during playback

This problem only came to light recently when i purchased a new PC New PC, different sound card. "Some" laptops have an input that may be used as either a mono mic input or as a stereo line input. In these cases, using it as a mic input generally sounds atrocious (LOTS of hiss). My laptop...

Re: Harmonic distortion during playback

RCA (Phono) lead from the line out on the amp connected to MIC input on PC. A "Line" level signal is about 1000 x bigger than a microphone signal. The Mic input in the PC is being massively overloaded. You need to use a sound card that has stereo line level inputs. One of the cheapest opt...
