Re: latency
Is there a point where if you have a a lot of tracks that things slow down? If so what is the limit? As projects get bigger it puts more demands on the computer system. There is no absolute limit to the number of tracks - it depends on the computer, the sound card, what else is running, and many ot...

Re: Converting Dual Mono to Mono
Put "split lines" at the points where you want to switch from one channel to the other (Click on the track then Command + i) When you finished doing that, split the stereo track to mono using the track dropdown menu (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audio_track_dropdown_menu.html). You...

Re: experiencing lag when software playthrough is activated
That's normal. Well actually, less delay than usual. The only way to get no delay at all is if there is a hardware "playthrough" path. With software playthrough there is an unavoidable delay due to the time it takes for the sound from the microphone to go through the sound card drivers, va...

Re: recording inexplicably stops after a few minutes
There are known problems with the Ubuntu build of Audacity 2.0.5 (their version of WxWidgets is not supported by Audacity 2.0.5). The UbuntuHandbook PPA is likely to be a more recent and more stable version (see: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2015/04/install-audacity-audio-editor-2-1-0-in-ubun...

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs
Hi Daniel. good to hear from you again. it's similar to the fact that some major technologies are limited because of a horse's butt. (Short version: some tech has to fit on trains, trains go through tunnels and on tracks of certain width, tracks were laid based on previously cut trails by horses, tw...

Re: ART USB Phono Plus spdif in on Ubuntu
I don't want to send the LINE OUT from the ART to my computer's LINE IN. That would defeat the purpose of having a digital turntable, right? It would defeat the point of having a nice phono pre-amp. If you can't get the S/PDIF to work, then analog out from the turntable to the ART and USB from the ...

Re: fade- overlap track?
I am saying that in the selection after the crossfade (now 2s to 5s) I can only hear tone (which is visibly and audibly slightly fading out) from 2s to 3s. I hear no noise until 3s. yes, that's correct, but a significant difference between the two is that when there is a split, the first song will ...

Re: ART USB Phono Plus spdif in on Ubuntu
I mean, "try your preferred Internet search". DC power supplies are certainly more common, but it took me just a couple of minutes to find a 9v AC PSU suitable for the country in which I live. This is an example, NOT a recommendation or sales pitch: Here's one from RS components: http://uk...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
I much prefer the flexibility of allowing any effect that is spectrally aware to make a spectral selection if none exists. That is not excluded by the scheme that I suggested. I like the idea of doing that as it seems much more user friendly and convenient that throwing an error if spectral selecti...
