Re: WAV to MP3
My problem is that every time I convert from WAV to MP3 How are you doing that? Can anyone please tell me how to change from defaulting to 'HP Connect Music'? If you don't use "HP Connect Music", you could uninstall it. See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uninstall-change-prog...

Re: noise reduction issues
There's only one complete solution - make your recordings with less background noise and use less (or no) noise reduction. As a workaround for your current recordings, you could try using the Equalization effect to reduce the level of the "S's", or you could try a "De-esser" plug...

more than half of those are clipping... What can be inferred from the dBTP figures that are over 0, is that more than half of the listed broadcasts are very likely to be clipped by typical playback devices. Clipping will occur if the D/A converter, or the analog circuitry that follows the the D/A c...

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs
Neither you or I have managed to find a ratified standard for podcasts / Internet audio. Those making podcasts for distribution via the Internet need to decide how loud to make their podcasts. I'm not personally advocating any specific level, but if I were making podcasts I'd want my podcasts to hav...

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs
But what if you have an interview in the first hour and a loud rock concert in the second hour? So long as the loudness is within the desired range for both on hour segments, I don't think there is a problem. The standard(s) set a range for the average loudness, and a limit on the short term loudne...

Re: Audacity 2.1.2 reports error importing from.ts files
I'm not 100% certain, but I think that is a debug message generated by WxWidgets. Release builds of Audacity will normally suppress debug messages, but if the version of WxWidgets used to build Audacity was a debug build, then debug messages may still be produced by WxWidgets. Unless Audacity crashe...

Re: recording inexplicably stops after a few minutes
Is there some way to reset the whole thing without removing and reinstalling? Yes. Close Audacity first. In your home directory, locate the hidden folder ".audacity-data" To reset Audacity preferences, delete the file "audacity.cfg" (it will be recreated with "factory defau...

RMS measurement for large files
When working with long selections in Nyquist, there is often a risk of running out of memory, which may lead to Audacity freezing or crashing. More precisely, the problem is running out of "address space". Background: Nyquist is a 32-bit library and so has a 2 GB limit for address space. W...

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs
What if it could process in 30-minute batches, separated by silence or breaks? Otherwise, I think a warning, "Please select less than an hour of audio at a time for processing," could be informative. "Ideally" the way that Audacity interacts with Nyquist needs to be changed so t...
