Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

Do you mean the tooltip for the button? Personally I would like that, but we don't show tooltips in other Edit Toolbar buttons. James as I understand it does not like the shortcuts that we now have displayed in the Transport Toolbar buttons. Yes, a tooltip for the button. I agree with James that a ...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

Subsumed within that second P2 is whether we even want per-track spectral selection. This (below) should not really be possible, but as you see, it is; impossible.png This weirdness is because the frequency selection is actually a global (per project) setting, though it is enabled / disabled on a p...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

If it was down to me, short term, I would have a Spectral Selection button in Edit Toolbar that turned Spectral Selection on and off, and get rid of the Spectral Selection checkboxes. Both Peter and I have previously argued in favour of this. I still agree that it looks like a big improvement to wh...

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs

About "true peak" measurement: Audacity does not have a built-in "true peak" meter, but the playback meters can be made to show "true peak" level with a simple user setting. Set the "project rate" to 192000 Hz before playing the track. This causes the audio to...

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs

The point is figuring out how to make it easier for Audacity users to process their audio to target loudness levels I'm a step closer to that, but the fact that R-128 specifies 'ignoring*' low level sound makes it tricky to implement efficiently in Nyquist. (* R-128 describes it as "gating&quo...

Re: _data folders being "modified" by placing in new folder?

It's due to the way the disk file system handles time-stamps. There's a summary of how it works on FAT / NTFS (Windows) here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/299648

Re: EQ going in

Is there a way to EQ before recording? Audacity does not do processing during recording, so the short answer with respect to what Audacity can do, the answer is no. As general practice, there is much to recommend recording "clean" and processing as necessary after recording. For vocal rec...

In response to you asking my opinion several pages back, I said that if it were down to me, then I'd have a "spectral selection tool". That's my opinion.

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

I don't think you will accept my proposal no matter how "clearly" I describe it, so I'll leave this one for someone else to fix.
