Re: Removing ticking noise
If you were obsessive enough, you could find and copy a bunch of clicks into one track and use that for the profile. Unfortunately that would not work very well. Even though you would then have a noise profile that matches the sound that you want to remove, because it is relatively high level and h...

Re: Recording quality not as good as source
to record an old radio show in mono (1 track) that had been uploaded with only the right track having sound I can't work out from that what you are trying to record. Do you have a radio plugged into your computer somehow? Is it a radio show that you recorded previously? Is it a radio show that you ...

Re: Removing ticking noise
I've updated the topic title to better describe the problem. No, Noise Reduction will not be effective for dealing with a ticking noise. Noise Reduction works on constant noise such as hiss and hum. Tick sounds are difficult to deal with, If you look in the spectrogram view (http://manual.audacityte...

Re: Is there a number of tracks limit in a project?
if there is a limit to the number of tracks I can have safely in a project. Yes, but it depends on your hardware. There is obviously a limit to the size of the project that depends on the amount of free disk space. With a big modern hard drive that is unlikely to be an issue, but with a small SSD i...

Re: Learning the system...
Check in the Windows Sound Control Panel to ensure that you are getting a signal through to the computer (look in the "Recording" tab - you should see a green meter wiggling when there is an audio signal coming from the device). If that's not working, you need to fix that before anything e...

Re: Creating multiple projects from one project
I assume that you have plenty of free disk space (you will need it). First, make a backup copy of the project: File menu > Save As -> name it with an obvious name. Create a label track with a label at the start of each song (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/label_tracks.html) For the "song ...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
I agree that it's not a "bug" in itself, which is why I've not put it on bugzilla either, but it's a design flaw that we allow the error condition to arise and then rely on the plug-in to handle it. Conceivably a plug-in could behave perfectly for all valid frequency selections, but cause ...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
It's no worse a restriction than Noise Reduction or EQ have now. Hopefully we can fix that problem in Noise Reduction and Equalization. That restriction is really just working around a bug rather than an inescapable limitation. Or insist that all selected tracks be made the same sample rate. <snip>...

Re: Have to use Mouse to ok since update
since the 2.1.2 update the OK will only respond to a mouse click - any ideas why things have changed? It's a bug. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next release. It also won't let me use my Hard Limiter effec The hard limiter effect has been upgraded with a new "Limiter" effect. http://ma...

Re: WavPack support
Audacity can import WavPack files if you install FFmpeg (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#ffdown)
For exporting lossless compressed files, you could use FLAC - the compression ratio and encoding / decoding speeds are similar and both are lossless.
