Re: How to capture envelope from one track and apply to anot
This sets the code to run as a "process" type of plug-in (an "Effect"), and creates the two controls ;type process ;control res "Time resolution" float "seconds" 0.1 0.01 10 ;control mode "Follow peak or RMS level" choice "Peak,RMS" 0 This ...

Re: USB Connection
Ensure that you connect the USB device (and allow Windows a few moments to recognise it) BEFORE you launch Audacity.
If you launch Audacity first, you will need to "Transport menu > Rescan audio devices" before Audacity can see the USB device.

Re: Recording Vocals with Karaoke Track on PC..NEED HELP!!
Worth noting that topic is about recording voice only. The requirements go up a step when you want the voice recording to be synchronised with a backing track. "Some" of the pocket recorders in that list can do overdub recording, some can't.kozikowski wrote: Bingo.

Re: Recording Vocals with Karaoke Track on PC..NEED HELP!!
There's some very nice stand-alone recorders out there, such as Tascam, Zoom, and Olympus. Combine one of those with a quiet room and there's no beating you. Although it's generally only the more expensive recorders that allow you to make "overdub" recordings. For the more basic models, y...

Or it could be an "optional" effect in the same way "Classic Filters" is Good point. I do see quite regular questions on the Forum about "how to make one song have the same EQ as another". Possibly worth considering then. Off topic: Is "Classic Filters" suppo...

Re: Audacity Project and File Handles
I don't use Windows, so you probably know more about file handles in Windows than I do. I may be able to cast a little light on what Audacity does. When the "copy / safer" method for import is used, Audacity copies the audio data from the selected files and creates a bunch of "blockfi...

Can't get "SpectrumToEqCurve.ny" to work in 2-1-2 [SOLVED]
"SpectrumToEqCurve.ny" was an experiment (clearly stated in the original post). I don't think there is any way to make this "usable" as a mainstream Nyquist effect until the Audacity/Nyquist interface has moved forward a long way. As a minimum requirement, we would need a file br...

Re: How to capture envelope from one track and apply to anot
I have a question, though. Is there a variable for how much it reduces the signal on the target track? For Nyquist plug-ins, the audio from the track that is currently being processed is called *track* . The effect works in two stages: 1) The "source track" is analyzed in short blocks (&q...

Re: Recording Vocals with Karaoke Track on PC..NEED HELP!!
Audacity can do that, and is probably a lot easier to use than most "DAW" programs. The standard sound cards in PCs are usually rubbish for microphone recording. Very cheap microphones (below about $50 US) usually sound like you have recorded with a cheap microphone. Recording in the kitch...
