Re: repair dropouts

That won't work. Even if I select the region containing a dropout, it's too short to trigger it. You said that the length of silences are "about 0.021 secs". In Audacity 2.1.2 the "Detected Silence > Duration" setting can go down to 0.001 seconds. http://manual.audacityteam.org/...

Re: How to join files together?

in this case I needed to create a lot more "tracks" than were on the original CD because there were many areas where solo and choral parts appear on the same CD track, and I wanted to cut out the solo parts. For future reference: Most good CD rippers will allow you to rip the entire CD as...

Re: Weird audio issue (windows 10)

Would the change I made in audacity change anything with the sound recording from hypercam? If Audacity is closed (not running) then whatever changes you made in Audacity would have no affect whatsoever on any other program or hardware, other than that adjusting the playback or record level in Auda...

Re: Why are my times "not reasonable?"

If you have a longer track below a shorter track and select valid audio in the longer track after the end of the track above, you get "Times are not reasonable!".
Is that what's happening?
(It's a bug).

Re: How to join files together?

OK, a couple of points: 1) The best way to get audio off a CD into a file on your computer is to use a "CD Ripper" application. A CD Ripper "rips" (digitally extracts) the audio data directly from the CD into a WAV file (some will rip to MP3 but you lose some quality that way). G...

Re: change 200 wave from mono to stereo

See here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/ch ... ation.html

The commands that you need in the Chain are:
  • StereoToMono
  • ExportWAV
  • - END -
("END" is there automatically)

Re: repair dropouts

You could use the "Truncate Silence" effect (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tr ... lence.html), but (a) you would need to take care to avoid truncating silences that are supposed to be present, and (b) you may still need to "repair" some of the joins manually.

Re: Weird audio issue (windows 10)

Were you able to turn the microphone off? If you're not using the mic, that could help a lot. Also check that there are no "sound enhancements" enabled (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements) Some sound cards also have their own control p...

Re: Why are my times "not reasonable?"

On the second track I get the message "Times not reasonable. Please enter reasonable times." It's a bad error message. It means "something is wrong". Which exact version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help > About Audacity". Some of the weird error messages have ...
