Re: Voice Changer: Voice needs to be unrecognisable!
I need to make videos and need to make sure my voice can't be recognised. Are we talking "military grade", as in, will work for terrorists, blackmailers and kidnappers, or are we talking about "just for fun" grade, as in, not instantly recognised from casual listening? I doubt t...

Re: Uneven recording
If you record from the turntable but lift the stylus off the record, you should get a "silent" (almost silent) recording. Try that and make a short test recording. Does it produce a flat line recording in the middle of the track (at zero) or is the flat line on the +ve side? If you don't g...

Re: Spectral removal
As I understand it, he wants to eliminate sounds below a certain dB value, not a certain Frequency. You could well be right Robert. I read it as sounds below a certain frequency, as he specified "I have seen from spectrogram view and spectrum analysis" , and the subject of the post "...

Re: 24-Bit Recording Status
As far as I'm aware, there is still a 16-bit capture limit when using MME or DirectSound as "host" (in the device toolbar ) though I don't have Windows to be able to test that. As I understand it, 24-bit recording should be available using WASAPI host (provided that your hardware and drive...

Re: Audacity seems to not play the last 0.2 seconds
That's a nice workaround, at least for some situationsRobert J. H. wrote:However, Loop playback makes the second (lower) click audible.
Another one is to add a label a bit beyond the end of the track, then select up to the label and play (tested on Linux).

Thanks for testing Robert. I wasn't expecting it to be any different, but nice to know.Robert J. H. wrote:The problem still exists in the alpha version (with Wasapi).

For the steepest cut-off, set "Rolloff (dB per octave)" to 48.

Re: Generating and playing ultrasound
Another thing to consider with piezo tweeters is that their impedance goes down as the frequency increases. At DC they act as "open circuit", but at very high frequency they act as "short circuit", which can burn out your amp unless you include a resistor in series with the piezo.

Re: Generating and playing ultrasound
OK, so you "suspect" that to be the case, but if it does not work, how do you know whether it's because your "suspicion" was incorrect or whether is is some other problem?pshute wrote:I suspect a lot of speakers can go way higher than their ratings if you don't mind a very poor response.

Re: Generating and playing ultrasound
I'll buy a piezo speaker. I'm told they can go pretty high It depends on the piezo speaker. Some of the ones in the link are piezo, and mostly they don't go much over 20 kHz. On the other hand, there are piezo transmitters that are specifically designed for ultrasound. Look at the specs before you ...
