Re: Can't record and playback voice audio while in Windows V

A bit off-topic, but you may be interested that there is a CentOS SIG (special interest group) currently being set up for audio production. There's a bit of information about it on the CentOS developers mailing list: https://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-devel/2016-March/014511.html Do you build...

Re: Protecting a Track

You could argue that you should not even be able to change the track order. I don't think that works... The track can be seen and heard but does not exist for purposes of any manipulation. Say you lock the first track, then you use the track drop-down menu to move a track to the top - either this m...

Re: Protecting a Track

For the purpose described by tfolster, "protected" would have to mean "locked against any change to the track contents". By inference, that would mean that a locked track could not be part of a Sync-Locked group. While locked, the only operations allowed would be to move the trac...

Re: recording inexplicably stops after a few minutes

Do you "Close" the Audacity project between each recording? ("File menu > Close"). If not, try that. In "Edit > Preferences > Directories", where does it say the temp folder is located? Check the size of that folder before each recording - it should go down to just a fe...

Re: Boomy sound in recording

No boominess here either.
How are you listening to the playback? Are you playing back in Audacity or some other program? Are you listening with USB headphones, computer speakers, or ...?

I'm guessing this is something that you have recorded off the Internet?

Re: Voice Changer: Voice needs to be unrecognisable!

So there we have it - lots of ideas for "just for fun" ways to disguise your voice, but no-one is going to take responsibility for whatever the consequences might be if your voice is recognised. I think that's as far as we can go productively on this topic so I'm locking it now.

Re: Can't record and playback voice audio while in Windows V

Why do you need the complication of trying to get it to work in a VM?

Re: Protecting a Track

Is there anyway to protect a track from accidental edits? Backups. Lots of backups. Backups are your friends, your allies, your salvation. I've done a lot of this type of work, (really interesting and enjoyable, but often hectic with a lot of pressure to make complex changes "instantly")....

Re: Generating and playing ultrasound

Some electric hand dryers use ultrasonic detectors at 40 kHz. One transducer creates a series of 40 kHz tones and the other transducer listens for echoes. It's a common form of proximity detector. They used to be available as hobby kits - perhaps still are. Ah yes, here's one that can be used with a...

Re: Uneven recording

If you have time before you need to leave, perhaps you could post a short audio sample in WAV format to illustrate the problem. Just 5 or 6 seconds will be sufficient. See here if you need help making and posting an audio sample: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=72887
