Re: Filter interface bugs
The effects with 7 dots may be due to incorrect listings in the pluginregistry.cfg file. The first thing I would suggest is that you try resetting Audacity back to "clean installation". Close Audacity then open the hidden folder ~/.audacity-data and delete the files: audacity.cfg pluginreg...

Re: opening more than 1 program
Yes, you can do: "File menu > New", or "File > Open" or "File > Recent Files". However: DO BE CAREFUL. If you "Play" or "Stop" in the second project, it will abort the recording in the first project without notice. Personally I would NOT recommend wo...

Re: First demo. Using audacity to mix.
As far as the guitar panning we really want to make it about Left Guitar(60/40) - Right Guitar(40/60). As a general guideline, it's good to keep everything centre panned while making the initial adjustments to level balancing (how much of each track in the mix). Once that is about right, then look ...

Re: Edit chains to split wave file into multiples?
I'd like to split each wav file out into the 8 samples for use Will you be splitting into 8 equal length sections, or do you need the batch process to somehow "detect" where to split? If the latter, then how will the process work out where to split? How long is each file? normally 2 synth...

Re: Problem accessing the mic with 2.1.1 with Azalia sound c
Try this to see what happens: 1) Open pavucontrol, (a) Check in the "Input Devices" tab that there is a meter responding to input from the microphone. (b) Go to the "Recoding" tab, and set the bottom "show" control to "All streams". The tab should be empty (no...

Re: bass limiter/compressor batch process help
I dont think there is a sub in the car. I think its just two door speakers OK, not an option then. We get a broad cross-section of music enthusiasts on this forum, and some have HUGE custom speaker set-ups in their cars - the compressor suggestion would be idea for that type of set-up. I'd probably...

Re: bass limiter/compressor batch process help
it's probably easier to just keep turning the car stereo bass knob up and down. ;) could be. If you're big on bass and have are using a sub in your car, it may be worth looking into using a hardware compressor - you would want one with a slow "release" setting so that it acts as a kind of...
