Re: Import multiple files into single track with separators
So am I right in thinking that if you are starting with audio files a, b, c, d,... (all are mono WAV files with the same sample rate and bit format ?) then what you want is an easy way to concatenate the files with one second of silence between each, and convert to MP3 format. That gives you one MP3...

Re: Edit chains to split wave file into multiples?
You may be able to partially automate the process: 1) Import one file 2) Use "Analyze > Silence Finder" to add labels in the silences between the sounds 3) Use "Export Multiple" to export the labeled regions. 4) File menu > Close Repeat 87 times. The process is included in this t...

Re: Import multiple files into single track with separators
What's the desired end result? Leaving Audacity out of the equation for a moment, what are you starting with and what do you want at the end of the entire process?

Re: Balancing Multiple Files ?
Depending on your MP3 player, either "Reply Gain" or "Sound Check" if your player supports them.

("Sound Check" is the Apple version, as found on iPods and iTunes)

Re: Problem accessing the mic with 2.1.1 with Azalia sound c
Recording WAVE '/tmp/test.wav' : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono That could be the problem. I'm not certain, but I think that Audacity expects / requires the audio sample format to be at least 16 bit. This article gives a general idea of how to change the default format for PulseAudio: http://ww...

Re: opening more than 1 program
I'd expect both SoX and SoundRecorder to be pretty good for minimal processor load, though because of the very limited routing capabilities of the Windows sound system, there's still a problem of signal routing when recording "stereo mix" isn't there? Can VB-Audio CABLE / Voicemeeter help ...

Re: Problem accessing the mic with 2.1.1 with Azalia sound c
I don't understand why Audacity is not seeing PulseAudio. That should happen automatically if PulseAudio is running, and you tell me that PulseAudio is running. Let's try from a different angle: The command "arecord -d 4 /tmp/test.wav" causes a good recording of the Mic input. Check that a...

Re: opening more than 1 program
Even then, if we just lock Audacity down to the "single project recorder/player model" it will probably encourage more people to look for "unofficial" solutions to record and edit at the same time. I appreciate that there may be times when a user wants to edit one thing while re...

The only message there is Stream is active ... unable to gather information. That could be that you've put Audacity into record mode, or you've activated the recording meter. Click the "Stop" button to ensure that Audacity is in "stop mode". (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man...
