Re: Change pitch without "chipmunk effect"
I only know of expensive commercial products that can do this. The best known is "Antares Auto-Tune". Auto-Tune requires a "certified compatible host program" (such as ProTools or Cubase). Further details are available on their website.

Paul-L's declicker and de-esser effects were designed for voice recordings, so would normally be used on mono tracks.
If using these effects on a multi-track music recording, I'd suggest to use them on un-mixed individual mono instrument / vocal tracks rather than on the mixdown.

Re: Missing Studio Fade Out effect in my new install
"Studio FadeOut" is a "Nyquist" effect. It should be installed by default.
Try setting "Edit > Preferences > Effects -> Effect Options" to "Grouped by Type", then look in the "Nyquist" section(s) near the bottom of the Effect menu.

You could make a ZIP (or similar) archive file with the AUP file and "_data" folder as its contents. (http://www.7-zip.org/)

Re: Best recording format for use on CD
I've realised that the default Audacity recording format is 44.1KHz 32 float, but I think CD format is 44.1KHz 16bit integer. That's correct. If this is correct, there would be a conversion if I exported to a .wav file for the CD. Yes there is, but the conversion is virtually lossless. During produ...

Re: Large file sizes - thoughts on why?
CD quality stereo WAV files are about 10 MB per minute, so a 30 minute stereo WAV file in CD quality will be about 300 MB.
Before uploading a podcast to the Internet you would normally make a copy as "128 kbps mono CBR MP3", which will be about 1 MB per minute.

No. The red means that the level of the audio is too high and is clipping. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/vi ... w_clippingVictor43 wrote:The red area means the track cannot be edited
