Re: Recording with built-in Mic issue

If Skype is running (even if only loaded in the background), that can cause problems for Audacity because Skype is very aggressive in the way that it takes control of the audio input and likes to take exclusive access. if that's not it, then check which input Audacity is using in the device toolbar .

Re: Need Steps for recording to audio cd

If you're using one of those cheap and nasty USB cassette converters, try it with the supplied software. If that has the same problem, send it back and ask for a refund. The section in the manual about copying cassettes to CD is here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_copying_tapes_lps_or_...

Re: How to decrease input volume of levels are already at 0

You've not said how the pre-amp is connected to your computer, but I'm guessing that you have plugged the output of the pre-amp into the microphone input of your computer. That won't work because the pre-amp signal is massively bigger than a microphone signal, and it is stereo whereas most microphon...

Good, that's a start.

Do "any" of the built-in effects work as expected?

Re: ReplayGain

I've gotten a few strange readings today that don't tally with what I'd expect, so I'm keen to find out what you folks know about this algorithm and its use by Spotify. Are they likely to differ significantly? Thanks. I've no idea what Spotify do. I wrote the Nyquist plug-in as an implementation of...

Re: unable to record in stereo using Focusrite 2i2

I also have Audition and can record in stereo with the same setup. You're not actually recording in "stereo" in Audition, though you may be recording "2 channels". If it's a "mono" microphone (which the ElectroVoice RE20 is), then you have a "mono" signal and...

Re: A good example of passing ACXCheck, but still producing

If you aren't even close, then you have got something wrong. That's a very good point, and to take it further, if you aren't even close then it's highly unlikely that any amount of processing will fix it. Personally I think it would be useful to have a "pre-processing test". Running the p...

Perhaps you need to do something about your recording set-up to avoid unwanted high amplitude low frequency noise.
What are you trying to record and what's your set-up for recording it?

Audacity adds small high freq signature... [SOLVED]

After I know that I now have the wave-forms as I want, convert them to 16bit. this will only add dithering effects the last time! Yes, that is precisely the way to ensure absolute maximum "quality". Similarly, if you require an MP3 version, converting to MP3 should be the final step in th...
