Re: mp3 export increases file length

Yes, it's a limitation of the MP3 format. It's because the MP3 format does not define the overall encoder/decoder delay. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3) Some other formats have this problem, but fortunately there's a good selection of formats that don't. For lossless formats, WAV, AIFF and FLAC ...

Re: Keyboard Shortcuts Activate While Naming Tracks

Yes it's a bug in 2.0.6.
It's fixed in the current alpha code, and I think that it's also fixed in Audacity 2.1.2. I'd suggest that you try the "Ubuntu Handbook PPA" build of Audacity 2.1.2.

Re: Can't get Mic and music together in headphones

I can't hear my voice with music in the headphones together without echo issues or voice/music audio being too low. If your voice is being played through the computer, there will inevitably be a delay due to the time it takes for the signal to go through the computer. "Listen to this device&qu...

Whether it is "latest" depends on where you got it from. Please tell us the version number from "Help > About Audacity".
The current version is 2.1.2 and is available here: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/

Re: Can't time shift just one of my two tracks [SOLVED]

I found the cause! Sync Lock Tracks was turned on (I don't know why) and when I turned it off, I no longer had the issue. Thanks Thanks for letting us know the happy ending :) For the benefit of other users, here's the relevant link in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/sync_locked_trac...

Re: Unable to save "export multiple"

Don't click "Cancel" - that cancels the export. It's easier if you disable the Metadata pop-up. To do so, disable it in "Edit > Preferences > Import/Export". If you need Metadata tags for the exported files, it is probably easier to add them later using either your media player a...

Re: Filtered sound/event activated recording

If sound activated recording is being triggered by low frequency thumps when you don't want to record low frequency thumps, then the solution is probably to change your recording set-up so that the mic does not pick up low frequency thumps. As you are not telling us what you are trying to record or ...

Re: White Noise Instead of Audio THAT IS THERE!

Which version of Audacity?
What format is the video file?
Does the video file have the correct file extension?
Do you have FFmpeg installed? (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_ ... tml#ffdown)
Did you use the "File > Import > Audio" command?

Re: MP3 encoder - licence

From what I've read most Linux distributions don't come with an MP3 decoder The simple way to avoid the possibility of MP3 license infringement is: Don't use MP3. Ogg Vorbis and FLAC are included by default in most Linux distributions. Ogg Vorbis and FLAC encoders / decoders are also freely availab...
