Re: Building wxWidgets for XP
I was writing at the same time as Gale, but my question is basically the same - have you found an actual "problem" (something that doesn't work), or are you just saying that it's "unsupported by Microsoft"?

Re: recording problem
Of course you can. And when you become an experienced user of Audacity I hope you will feel free to drop in and pass on some of that experience to other usersjojo wrote:If I should have the same problems again, I hope I can feel free to ask for your help again.

Re: BLURRED SOUND FROM USB MIC ON WINDOWS 10
Is this for vocal recording? Check that there are no "Windows sound enhancements" enabled (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements) Are you using it like this? ("pop shield" between mouth and microphone, distance about 10 to 20 cm, ...

Re: Recording
Audacity does not "record in WAV", it records in its own very high quality format. This is called an "Audacity project". You can then "export" the audio from the project as a "WAV file" (which is the default export format), or one of several other supported fo...

Re: request for help choosing the proper settings
Host: ALSA; for Playback Device: default; for Recording, Device: Sysdefault Line:1; for Channels: 2 (stereo) Are these incorrect? Host: ALSA is usually the only option. If it's the only option then that's right. If it's not the only option, then it could be wrong. Are there other options? Playback ...

Re: Turn off opening banner?
Windows 10 'should' look after defragmenting and other maintenance tasks by itself, provided that the computer is left on long enough to do so. Maintenance tasks can take a very long time on Windows 10 (many hours) and can consume a large amount of computer resources while it is working. At some con...

Re: Turn off opening banner?
I don't notice anything problematic there. Audacity is looking for FFmpeg and doesn't find it, which is normal if you've not installed FFmpeg. When you say it takes a "long time", how long are you talking about? What's the specifications of your computer? (CPU, RAM, etc.) Do you leave your...

Re: Turn off opening banner?
Is there a way to disable the loading banner that appears in the middle of your screen while Audacity is loading? Not unless you modify the source code and build the Audacity executable yourself. Audacity takes a very long time to start up on my machine That's the real problem isn't it? On my machi...

Re: Audacity File Lost Or Was It
I began recording on Audacity and I went on for 90 minutes and then I hit PAUSE. Then I hit PAUSE again and then I hit STOP. I'm trying to understand what you are/were trying to do. When you say " I hit PAUSE", does that mean that you clicked on the Pause button, or that you pressed the k...
