Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
@tcbrack As you can see, there are divergent opinions about this, but I hope that you see that there is a thread of underlying agreement that we all want Audacity to strike an appropriate balance between convenience and safety, and that we all agree that improvements can be made. Unanimous agreement...

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
A Project is always clean until it's audio is modified I think I'm close to your position on this Edgar, but I'd rein it back a bit. For illustration, consider this fairly extreme case: 1) Import 30 audio files (perhaps recordings of individual instruments) 2) Arrange the audio clips into 8 tracks ...

Re: PROBLEM AFTER SELECTING SOFTWARE PLAY THROUGH
I'm mid project and don't want any disastors. Make regular backups. 1) Each time you record a new track, Export it as a WAV file by selecting the new track and using "File menu > Export Selected Audio". 2) At frequent intervals, make a backup copy of the Audacity project using "File ...

Re: Remote Access to Workstation Running Audacity 2.1.2
when I access the workstation remotely through Remote Desktop Protocol, "Remote Audio (loopback)" is the only recording device available. When you say that "Remote Audio (loopback) is the only recording device available", where are you looking? What recording and playback device...

But they can have really small projects now - AUP files are tiny.Gale Andrews wrote:True, but it prevents users having smaller projects.

Re: V. 2.1.2 Specrogram colors change
The question remains: will you revert back to a color scheme that retains the abilities to use the tool as I have been doing for about a year. I think I've worked out how you get those colours. Here is the spectrogram view of white noise fading in from silence, with "spectral selection" e...

Re: V. 2.1.2 Specrogram colors change
I think Chris_A is referring to the low energy spectral selection colour being green in 2.1.1 and grey in 2.1.2. But isn't the real problem the gaudy colours that mask detail and blur the distinction between different bands? I complained about that https://sourceforge.net/p/audacity/mailman/message...

Re: V. 2.1.2 Specrogram colors change
since I didn't receive an automatic notification via Audacity at launch that a new version was available (a feature that both REW and Hornresp provide, two other audio applications). The current 2.1.2 version provides an option in the Help menu to check for updates (http://manual.audacityteam.org/m...

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
For example I can remember a number of cases where users imported a file then deleted it immediately, thinking the import automatically saved it then they could close Audacity at once and come back later to edit it But that's ridiculous. Do any applications do that? How are we giving them the impre...
