Re: can't reopen a saved project
The argument about space-saving on disk is a bit specious as it is more than somewhat foolish to be working with a disk that is so low on spare space that that is an issue Also, if you include the size of the dependent files (which are most definitely "part of the project"), then the tota...

Re: Drag and Drop
What's the timeframe on the next build likely to be? There are "nightly builds" quite frequently (though not every night). See: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nightly_Builds#mac Please note the disclaimer from the website: For advanced users, Nightly Builds are available for testing pu...

Re: can't reopen a saved project
The intrinsic safety comes from the fact that copying in the external files is the default setting - the user has to take positive action to reverse that and thus should be aware of the risks that they are exposing themselves too 8-) Dependencies are not safer. Copying in the files is safer, that's...

Re: can't reopen a saved project
Am I understanding you correctly? Are you saying that you are perfectly happy with an Audacity project depending on external WAV, AIFF or FLAC files as long as we give a warning, but that you feel it is of great importance that Audacity projects should not depend on an external _data folder (that ha...

I've got a suggestion. Let's not kick this into the long grass.

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
And are you going to implement these changes for 2.1.3? I'm hoping that tcbrack will. For naive users it remains IMO absolutely necessary to ask after importing a file and doing nothing else. that will still not help those who import the file and amplify it or normalize it to see it better Are you ...

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
Or does unedited mean "not changed the file length"? The word used was "unmodified", not "unedited". An "unmodified" track is one that has not been modified. That means, not cut, not amplified, not normalized, not resampled, not edited, not compressed, not ex...

Re: can't reopen a saved project
but if the project has dependencies and you rename, move or delete one or more of the files on which the project depends, then you still lose your show.Gale Andrews wrote:#1 benefit is that it is one file. You can't "lose your show" by renaming the _data folder

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
So, my follow-up idea is to have an option to consider a project consisting only of imported, but unmodified, tracks to be "clean" and not ask to save the project. In this case, the damage to a user's work is rather limited; they can only have added a set of files to the project, but not ...

Re: can't reopen a saved project
Surely the number one benefit of a "unitary project format" is that it is self contained. What other benefits are there?
