Re: Possible processing for Dolby recorded types
A lot of people used to leave Dolby turned off during playback because they liked the "brighter" sound (treble boost). I didn't... I used it correctly but it's not "terrible" without it. I found it useful to turn Dolby off during playback of some old cassettes, because cassettes...

Re: Audacity Bugs
Isn't Audacity® in Microsoft Store from our support ? It seems that someone (a parasite) unrelated to the Audacity Team has decided to profiteer from our work. They've put "Audacity" (or possibly a modified version of Audacity) into Microsoft Store so that they can pocket the money from p...

Re: Bug: Importing Labels through command line fails
I'm sorry for all of my questions, but now I'm attempting to recreate all of the audio edits from Blender in Audacity Haha - what started out as a simple little job ... :D Seriously though, this sounds great. I need to be able to import trimmed audio files into specific spots and tracks. Normally y...

Re: Default entry setting in Amplify
Audacity uses "32-bit float PCM" format internally. This format has benefits of not only great sound quality, but also the ability to support audio above 0dB.
Most WAV files are "16 or 24 bit integer PCM", which cannot go over 0dB (anything over 0 dB is simply clipped off).

Re: DE-ESSER FOR MAC BIG SUR, PLEASE HELP!
A file ending in ".ny" is a "Nyquist plug-in". They need to be installed, and then enabled in Audacity.

Re: Question for moving tracks
To shift clips in multiple tracks together: Select across all of the tracks that you want to move. Switch to the Time Shift tool click on a track inside the selected area and drag. Note that if you click and drag from outside of the selected area, the clips will not move together. Ref: https://manua...

Re: Fast Forward/ Rewind when editing
Is there a feature ... that will allow me to "rewind" or "fast forward" the track I am editing to a place of my choosing? There are several shortcuts available. (I assume that you already know that you can click on a track when stopped to set the play position) To get the full s...

Re: Remove DC Offset is not working
Could both of their voices be equally nonsymmetrical, both hairy at the bottom? The flat top to that waveform suggests that the recording has been pretty heavily processed, making it hard to guess why it looks like it does. DC Offset is when the average of all samples is greater or less than zero (...
