Re: Hard Limiter no longer works
The LADSPA "Hard Limiter" effect has been replaced in Audacity 2.1.2 with a better limiter called "Limiter" http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/limiter.html I'm guessing that you updated Audacity from an earlier version to Audacity 2.1.2 and you can still see "Hard Limiter&qu...

Re: Playing a Spectral Selection
"Zero bandwidth" is like having an object that has zero width (infinitely thin). Just as an infinitely thin object exists conceptually as a "plane", so an infinitely narrow bandwidth exists conceptually. It could be argued that a pure sine tone has "infinitely narrow bandwid...

Re: using arecord to record from USB Audio Capture device
Some audio devices have hardware mixing, others don't. If the device has hardware mixing, then multiple applications / instances can access the device at the same time. If the device does not have hardware mixing, then only one application can access the device at a time - this is the reason why sof...

Re: Recording issues - USB input not picked up
By default, Audacity does not support ASIO. ASIO support requires building Audacity from the source code using the ASIO SDK from Steinberg. The ASIO SDK is not open source, so we're not allowed (under the license terms) to distribute it. "Most" audio hardware has at least basic functionali...

Re: 5.1 an 7.1 surround playback issues
there's no dithering needed as there is no sample rate conversion. A small correction: Dithering has nothing to do with "sample rate". Dither is used to eliminate quantization noise when converting the "sample format" from a higher bit-resolution to a lower bit-resolution. If th...

Re: Changing pitch
The "Change Pitch" effect is a quick and easy way to change the pitch without changing the tempo. If you want to, for example, raise the pitch by 1 semitone (a half step), then just type in the number "1" in the "Semitones (half-steps)" text box. Note that this effect c...

Re: Chain > Export Multiple?
Your current method sounds pretty good, but a couple of points: My existing chain uses TruncateSilence, Amplify, ChangeTempo (to increase the speed by about 50%) and ExportMP3. It probably does not matter too much for your use case, but MP3 format (and any other form of "lossy compression"...

Re: Chain > Export Multiple?
No, Export Multiple is not supported by Chains, but if you tell us what you are trying to do and your current working method, we may be able to suggest an alternative.
