Re: Audacity only outputting through HDMI

Yes ALSA should be selected as the "host".

Do you have "pavucontrol" installed?

Re: wind/wave-reduction

High Pass filter, 300 Hz, 48 dB per octave may help a bit. The "Isolate Vocals" setting in the "Vocal Reduction and Isolation" effect helps to make the main voice clearer, but at the expense of creating weird bubbly sounds in the background ("strength" should be set to ...

Re: 2 Audio Files/Tracks, and need to loop 1 track simultano

Hi Steve, how do I make it repeat infinitely (until the second track elapses) instead of specifying the number of repeats? Assuming that the other track in not infinitely long, you won't need to repeat it infinitely. In the dialog for the Repeat effect, the total length is displayed for the number ...

Re: Audacity only outputting through HDMI

A common reason for a device to be unavailable is if the device is in use by another application and has claimed exclusive access to it. If you have PulseAudio Volume Control installed (pavucontrol) you can look in the "Output devices" tab to see if the device is available to PulseAudio. I...

Re: Can you get real time echo in Audacity?

The idea was a special button you could press that overdub recorded for twice (or greater) the length of the selection) then stopped and played from the end of the selection. So that would be similar to resting the mouse near the end of the track, start the recording, then pressing "space"...

Re: Is a phantom power adapter enough?

If the price difference between a single channel and a dual channel is not much, then a dual channel device could be worth having in case you want to use a second mic at a later time (Audacity can only access one device at a time. It can't record from two single channel devices at the same time, but...

Re: Is a phantom power adapter enough?

The Rolls Phantom Power Adapter PB23 will supply phantom power, as required by the Oktava MK319 condenser microphone, but does not provide any amplification to the microphone signal (it is designed to go between a microphone and the mic input of a mixing desk, if the desk does not provide phantom po...

Re: 2 Audio Files/Tracks, and need to loop 1 track simultano

Import both files into Audacity.
Apply the "Repeat" effect to the short track (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/repeat.html).
Use the track "Gain" sliders to adjust the playback level as required. (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audi ... .html#gain)
