Generally I like the idea of having advanced settings separated out from basic settings, but, for example, I wouldn't support hiding th...

Re: Tiny sounds
Topic moved to Windows forum. My guess is that you are recording on a laptop computer and you are inadvertently recording via the built-in mic rather than directly recording the audio stream that is playing on your computer. Which version of Windows are you using, and which version of Audacity? (The...

Re: track menu all grayed out on Quick-play enabled
What exactly is happening in this "mode"? Is the track playing forward/backwards when you move your mouse? If so, then you have stumbled into "scrubbing". To get out of it, try clicking the Stop button. Info about scrubbing (and "seeking") in the manual: http://manual.a...

Re: Sourcing music for use on Audacity
The problem is not so much "where can you get music from" as a matter of "where can you get music from that you can legally use without breaching copyright". "Creative Commons" (CC) provides license terms that permit use, subject to clearly defined conditions. See here ...

I am talking about an Advanced button in Warnings Preferences. How will that require a "higher skill threshold" than other preferences? how you are going to prevent unintended loss of data It is IMPOSSIBLE to prevent unintended loss of data if users delete files without saving and without...

Re: please your help on recording
I never seen such situation at tny other software. In most other multi-track audio software it is a lot more complex. Usually it involves creating a new track of the type required, setting the cursor position for the start of the recording, arming the track ready for recording, then starting record...

Re: please your help on recording
1) Open a new Audacity project. 2) Click the Record button OR press the "R" key on your computer keyboard. This will start recording on a new track. 3) Click the Stop button OR press spacebar. This will stop the recording. 4) Hold the Shift key down and click the Record button (while holdi...

Assuming that you are not talking about manual editing of the cfg file, perhaps it would help if you could describe how this "higher skill threshold" will be achieved.Gale Andrews wrote:because of the higher skill threshold required for getting to an Advanced dialogue in the first place.
