Re: Saved file mysteriously deleted

@everyone I'm not the biggest fan of Mac Spotlight Search. I know there are ways of making text-only Terminal do a search. Someone with Linux talents can comment. find <path> -name <filename> Example, to search recursively for a file that begins with "News", starting from the current fold...

Re: Remove DC Offset is not working

Now, I can't help but notice that the positive peaks are bigger than the negative peaks. Is it possible that voice recordings typically have that phenomenon? Natural sound sources are rarely "exactly" symmetrical, though most usually appear fairly symmetric. Brass instruments are often no...

I do remain curious why Remove DC Offset is offered as an option for Normalize.
Haha - that has been fiercely disputed for at least a decade :D
Personally I think that DC Offset should be a separate effect in its own right.

Re: Recording a mono track with 2 separate microphones on a SubZero SZ-A12 audio interface

Record as stereo (that's the only way to get both mics with your hardware). After recording you have options: 1. You could "Tracks menu > Mix > Mix Stereo down to Mono" (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tracks_menu_mix.html) 2. If you want partial separation between the voices (one...

Re: AUDACITY TAKING HOURS TO SAVE?

On my i7 laptop, exporting a 1 hour, stereo, 44100 Hz sample rate track as 16-bit WAV to an internal SSD drive takes about 20 seconds. Would anyone be able to tell me how long it should take for 8-10 hour recordings to save? In WAV format, it would probably fail because the maximum size for WAV form...

Re: Microhpone advice needed: Blue/Yeti vs Rode NT-USB

One of these may be useful if you're still looking (Blue Yeti is in the list but some of the others might be an option!). [Advertising is not permitted] There are hundreds of blog sites about "The best 10 <enter product here>". It is not really helpful to link to them. Better to give your...

Re: Recording incoming phone audio

What I need is to be able to record the other parties voice onto my phone as I'm talking into an separate mic into audacity The easy way to do it is to use a mobile phone and put it on speaker phone. Hold the phone to the side of your head so that it is facing the microphone. The mic will then reco...

Re: Light stutter noise during playback

There's two main problems with that audio: 1. The recording level is too high, causing "clipping" distortion. Solution: The recording level needs to be reduced so that the peaks fit easily inside the track. It's a good idea to aim for waveforms that are about half the track height. 2. The ...

a log that can be accessed after closing a project be created
How does that work? How long would Audacity retain that log? Would there be an ever growing log of everything you do in every project forever?
