Re: Same Relative Volume
Is this what Normalizing is for? No. Normalizing is to amplify up to a specified peak level. For example, if you normalize a bunch of files to -1dB, then the maximum peak level will be -1 dB in each of the tracks. "Peak level" is not the same as "loudness". For example, a solo a...

Re: missing data block files - 3 options - HELP!
Firstly, don't panic ;) Important: Do not select the "replace missing audio with silence permanently" option. Let's look at "what happened": I saved it also as an AUP and closed audacity. Now when i open the copy it states "couldnt find the project data folder" So this ...

Re: Splitting files on same track
A few "technical" terms that will help us to understand each other: A "file" is package of data stored on a disk (or other storage medium). An "audio clip" is a continuous section of audio in an Audacity track. An "audio track" (in Audacity) is mono or stereo ...

Re: How do I convert ogg as 24 bit depth?
I just want to basically make my ogg file 24 bit, because the game I want to put my sound effects in only supports ogg There's no such thing as 24-bit Ogg. "24-bit" refers to the "bit-depth" of PCM encoded audio. As described in Wikipedia, Ogg does not have "bit-depth"...

Re: Playback cursor outpacing playback
Big projects (both number of tracks and length of project) will tend to reduce responsiveness. Muting tracks does little to help because much of the delay is from the graphics rather than playing the audio. Some tips to minimise this: 1) Splitting a project into sections. I generally prefer to work ...

Re: Time track
Ah yes. As Gale wrote, that is called the "Timeline" (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/timeline.html), and it's a bug in the current version of Audacity (2.1.2). Audacity 2.1.3 is due to be released fairly soon (I'm not sure of the exact schedule), and the bug has been fixed for 2.1...

Re: Recording WAV vs. MP3
I'll have to record these from recordings to control that everything is equal.. I figure.. If I perform live, of course each time would be different. And I figure best to use some already well-known established recording, copyright aside, as this will not be for profit, and I'll only sample part of...
