Personally I find zooming to centre ideal because sometimes I'm interested in the audio just after the selected point, sometimes the audio just before, and very often the audio around the selected point.

Don't forget to enable it after installing.
It will then appear in the "Effect" menu in the section at the bottom (scroll down the list of effect and look below the divider).

It's nothing obvious. Do the clicks occur if you record "nothing" (start recording then go and make a cup of tea / coffee, come back and press "Stop".)

What sort of mic are you using, and how is it connected to your computer?
