Re: Monitor multiple tracks at once

To get four meters as in my previous post you would use something like: meterbridge -t vu alsa_pcm:capture_1 alsa_pcm:capture_2 alsa_pcm:capture_3 alsa_pcm:capture_4 There's not much documentation for meterbridge, but the website is here: http://plugin.org.uk/meterbridge/ I used QjackCtl to connect ...

Re: Undoing sync-lock too far far back

I work with 4.1.2 on AUDACITY There is no "4.1.2" version of Audacity. Please check the Audacity version in "Help > About Audacity". If it says the version number is 4.1.2 then it is not an official version of Audacity. Sync-Lock can be turned off and on at any time using the Sy...

Re: Need help with something regarding an MP3

Thanks for the response. But what I actually want to try and do is adjust the input in the section portion of the file (about the 2:10 to 2:45 mark) to where it sounds like the bit at 0:50 to 0:57. Is this possible with Audacity? If I understand your question correctly, then you could use a "T...

Re: Aliasing

what would be a good way to know if the digital audio I am producing has any aliasing in it That depends on how you are producing the digital audio. If you are "recording" the audio directly into Audacity, then so long as your sound card is not creating aliasing distortion (if you're usin...

Re: Time calculation

Can anyone please help me with working out how to select/find/crop the vertical scale, say above a certain db. I need to be able to work out how many hours of the day in total is the sound above "X" db, so I can understand how many hours of the day the dog is barking for in total. If the ...

Re: RMS measurement for large files

I ran your snippet on Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit on a selection within an hour of mono audio. The extra RAM used by the snippet was not released. When I chose a different selection in the track, almost no additional RAM was used, but none was released. Even when I created audio in a new track and ran the ...

Re: Noise Removal

You are looking at videos that refer to an obsolete version of Audacity. I presume that you are using the current 2.1.2 version of Audacity? (look in "Help > About Audacity"). The old Noise Removal effect has been updated, improved and renamed "Noise Reduction". Instructions for ...

This is the section from 50s + 01527 samples to 52s + 05697 samples. I've reduced some of the crackles using the "Repair" effect (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/repair.html) Loop it as many times as you like by using the "Repeat" effect (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/rep...

Re: Can I restore a previous save point?

I think it should be a release blocker, assuming it is a simple and safe change. Fixing it is probably not so simple, though should be safe. The problem is that if a file is imported, where the file name is the same as the name of a project that is in the same directory, then the name and path of t...

Re: Recording levels from vinyl

Take a look in the Windows Sound Control Panel, find the (Citronic) USB device in the Recording tab, and ensure that Windows has not enabled "boost" in its settings (it may be labelled "microphone boost"). If there is no boost setting, then just set the recording level very low.
