Re: Real-time EQ preview (+ non-destructive EQ adjustment)

Much of the original post concerns the difference between the two paradigms: "Real time DAW" vs "Sample Editor". Each of these have pros and cons. For a real time DAW, effects are performed in real time, non-destructively - in other words the audio data is not changed until the p...

Re: Show CLOCK_TIME above graph, not STOPWATCH_Time?

Is it possible to add an offset to this time to show actual CLOCK time? No, Audacity does not have that feature (and I've not seen it on any other general purpose audio editor either). I currently parse the Phone generated ending time (when file was written to disk) and use Exiftool to get the dura...

Re: How do I 'gradiated' ducking and 'reverse' ducking?

The next version of Audacity (2.1.3) has real-time preview for the "Bass and Treble" effect, which is a step toward real-time preview for Equalization. I'm hopeful that we will have real-time preview for an Equalization effect in 2.1.4.

Yes, but we really should include an Equalization effect with real-time preview, and I'm sure we will in not too long.

Re: How do I 'gradiated' ducking and 'reverse' ducking?

1. 'Gradiated' ducking The louder Track A gets, the quieter Track B gets Some years ago I was looking for a way to do this on ProTools. I didn't find a way. Because Audacity isn't a DAW, it can pack it's secret weapon: "Nyquist scripting language" (http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquis...

Re: How do I 'gradiated' ducking and 'reverse' ducking?

But it's not exactly a DAW No it's definitely not a DAW, it's a multi-track audio editor ("sample editor" / "wave editor" ). Protools, Reaper and Ardour are DAWs, and last time I looked they did not do sample editing. It's about using the right tool for the job. Sonar and Logic ...

Re: Question: how to record streamed sound, eg from You-tube

By the way, the issue seems to be the same as in this topic http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 46&t=79293 so I'm hoping that your issue is also just a matter of finding the right settings that suit your hardware.

Interesting comment. Why do you say that? (My use of Audacity is almost entirely as a music production tool)

Re: Question: how to record streamed sound, eg from You-tube

Don't understand the significance of the 44,100, but it looks like 48,000 this time .. It's significant ;) To record with WASAPI loopback, the recording settings in Audacity must match the settings in the Windows Sound Control Panel . The "Default Sample Rate" setting in Audacity Preferen...

Re: removing music but not voice

You could try the "Vocal Reduction and Isolation" effect: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/vocal_reduction_and_isolation.html If that doesn't work, then you would probably need to use expensive specialist software such as "Melodyne" (http://www.celemony.com/en/melodyne/what-is-...
