Re: Missing data block files after crash
put my laptop to sleep with Audacity still open. Some systems have a nasty habit of doing housework in their sleep and cleaning up "unused" temporary files, which can be terminal for applications like Audacity. For audio (and video) work it is generally recommended to set the system to ne...

Re: Recording I made using multi tracks and audacity
No, I'm the soundman Ah, in that case, one very minor criticism that I would make is that the drums are possibly a little too prominent in the mix. They slightly dominate over the lead vocals and lead guitar. I would try to bring the lead vocal and lead guitar a little further forward in the mix, a...

Re: removing audio from .MOV file
If you force a multiplex with no sound channels, you risk making a movie either nobody can play, or worse, some people can't play. Do you know of a media player that won't play video files with no sound? iTunes, WMP, MPlayer (and players based on it), XMBC (and players based on it), and VLC all man...

Re: removing audio from .MOV file
The question is "how to demux". The answer is Avidemux. (http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/)ryadia wrote:There must be an application that can pull the individual video and audio files from a .MOV container. Maybe I'm asking the wrong question?

Re: Can't get stereo to work
I can only get my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 to record in Audacity in either the left or the right channels, but not both at the same time. I have "stereo recording" turned on. I can switch from either the left or right on playback. But for the life of me I cannot get it to record or playback...

Re: Clarification needed on .wav file sampling rates
There are a number of standard sample rates, the most common being 44100 (CD standard) and 48000 (DVD standard). Other standard rates include 8000, 11025, 22050, 96000. 192000. As far as I'm aware, a WAV file can have any sample rate (though non-standard rates are rarely used). To change the sample ...

Re: Volume Control Function - Just dBFS?
The question is still unanswered I think. Which question? Your question about whether there is another DAC-ADC in the chain has been answered - no there isn't. Your question about whether Audacity resamples the data has been answered - no it doesn't. Your question about whether the gain change is d...

Re: Unintended change in amplitude when exporting
The track Gain control (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audio_tracks.html#gain) will affect the amplitude of the exported file (but does not change the appearance of the waveform until the track is mixed down / rendered / exported). If the track Gain control is higher than zero, the exported wave...

Re: MP4 Export Bitrate Question
I've been using the MP4 with the .m4r file type to export them Audacity does not support MP4 directly but relies on FFmpeg for the conversion. It is very difficult for open source programs (such as Audacity) to support closed / proprietary formats (such as MP4) because of license / patent issues. A...
