Re: More effects?
Because the menu items are greyed out? If so, then it's probably because playback is only paused and not stopped. In Audacity 2.1.2 (and earlier), you need to "Stop" playback for most actions (Click the Stop button).Phaftkow wrote:and does not allow me to cut, past, save, undo, anything really.

Re: Stereo Phasing Automatic Alignment
In the analog audio world, it is achieved comparing the L+R vs L-R levels, while we change the input stereo channels phase (it was a mechanical action on the cassette recording/play-back head). In the digital world it shouldn't be a problem. There are no heads to align, so why is it a problem that ...

Re: Compiling Audacity
At 3 decimals, an edited thirteen minute track is approximately 0.133 seconds off compared to a Finale Songwriter 2012 music file at 4 beats per second (Quarter Note = 60 tempo). It is enough to cause a noticeable difference in the mix. Thanks for the feedback. I'm intrigued. Can you give me an act...

Re: Compiling Audacity
The supported version of Microsoft Visual Studio is 2013. Apparently it is 'possible' to build with later versions, but you're pretty much on your own if you choose to do so as there is no documentation (and I'm on Linux so I can't offer any help with MVS). http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Developi...

Re: Transposition of the harmonic series
I am also preparing a sound file that will demonstrate the problem. Let me save you some time: Generate a "Square, no alias" tone at 440 Hz (A4). View with Plot Spectrum and notice the harmonic series: A4, E6, C#7, G7, B7, D#8, F8 ... Note that these are "Natural harmonics" (exa...

Re: USB mic recognised but not recording
Just looked and it appears the AT2020+ USB mic is not compatible with Windows 10 Where did you see that? I looked on the AT site and they say that the AT2020+ USB should be compatible with Windows 10. Having said that, I see via Google that MANY people are having problems with this mic (and other U...

Re: USB mic recognised but not recording
so don't know why it isn't recognised in Audacity... It isn't recognised by Audacity because it isn't enabled in Windows (not enabled in Sounds and Devices). The question should be: why isn't it enabled in Windows? What's the exact make and model number of the USB mic? Does it require special drive...

Re: USB mic recognised but not recording
Further, when I'm in Sound and Devices in the control panel, when I try to click on 'enable this device' the bar remains greyed out and I can't enable it, That will be why Audacity can't use it. The device must be enabled in Sound and Devices otherwise applications (such as Audacity) will not be ab...

How can I make my voice sound a little younger/older? This is how Dustin Hoffman does it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XICvwFGm9A (The old man at the start, and the younger man that says " Glad to meet your daughter sir " are both Dustin Hoffman. His actual age at the time was about 3...
