Re: Is A Computer Inaccurate for Music Editing?

I'm recording with a stand-alone portable recorder (Tascam dr5) totally separate from my computer, ... . I then upload the file recorded (as WAV 44 kHz/24 bit) into my computer to edit with Audacity. --- So it is only during this editing, of these prerecorded songs, where my concern is.. - to get t...

Re: data folders larger when stereo tracks to mono why?

I can't actually get that to work here unless I use the "Quote" button and select the text to be quoted in the message editing window. Are you clicking the right "QUOTE" button? There's a "Quote" button in the row of buttons above the message compose box. That just add...

Re: Powered speaker

Are you using a wired or wireless connection to the speakers? If wireless, try wired. My guess is that you're trying to run them wireless but the connection is not 100%. If Audacity loses its connection to the speakers, then you could try "Rescan audio devices" from the Transport menu to s...

Re: New "only one rare use" way of changing sound pitch

So we need to figure out what is the frame rate of the audio Audio doesn't have a frame rate. YouTube just cuts it into pieces and drops every other piece. The pieces that are retained are a little longer than the pieces that are dropped so as to allow for a short crossfade from one piece to the ot...

Re: Specific needs with applying chains

Problem is, I have to apply the specific chain to one directory at a time, and is very very time consuming. Audacity will not read a folder and ALL its subfolders in order for me to apply the chain to ALL MP3 files in all folders and subfolder. Is there a way around this? There's no way round it in...

Re: data folders larger when stereo tracks to mono why?

Each of my three stereo tracks consists of not one continuous recording, but rather 30 second recordings copied and pasted numerous times to make up a 7 min tracks. So audacity is probably just reusing those clips, not having separate data for each clip... Yes, Audacity will reuse the data from the...

Re: Is A Computer Inaccurate for Music Editing?

upsetting that these "sound cards" are so lacking. Most computer users don't require better than telephone quality from their computers (computer sound is just for beeps and Skype isn't it?) Consequently, in a highly competitive market, computer manufacturers are reluctant to spend more t...

Re: data folders larger when stereo tracks to mono why?

..sorry, not following exactly...no rendering taking place yet, just saving the project I thought you were doing: "Tracks menu > Stereo Track to Mono". If so, then that "mixes" the two channels of the stereo track to render a new mono track. Any empty space between audio clips w...
