Re: 16 bit import file / un-dithered export?
my FINAL question on this topic (promise!) I bet it's not :D I now realise I want them all to have a consistent level Be careful here. Having the same "peak level" does not mean that the will sound the same "loudness". "Peak level" is, as one might expect, the level of...

No, Audacity can't do that.Alexk492 wrote:Is it possible to take the MP3 song, and edit out the marimba using Audacity

Re: Unable to start recording
So it's not working with Windows, which means it won't work with Audacity. You need to fix it working with Windows before there's any chance of it working in Audacity.WithAy wrote:but no jump from the green meter.
Have you ascertained whether or not you need to run the second generation updater from Scarlett?

Re: Reduce or increase pitch without preserving duration
The "Change Speed by Semitones" plug-in is now available on the wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Change_Speed_by_Semitones We could link to it on Feature Requests where there are the votes for a pitch control in Change Speed. Done. Unless of course you are go...

Re: Unable to start recording
So we are back to:
Connect the Scarlett 2i4 usb interface before you start Audacity.
Check in the Windows Sound Control Panel that it is working as a recording device (you should see a green meter in the Recording tab that jumps up and down when there is audio input to the 2i4).

Re: Multiple export without changing metadata
Yes you have said that before, and I know you are opposed. I'm not opposed to it if it is done well, but as you say, it is a highly complex feature for a multi-track editor that would require a considerable amount of work for both the developer(s) and for QA. So as to avoid unrealistic expectations...

Re: 4.04gb file only 4 minutes long.
The maximum size for a WAV file is 4GB (See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WAV#Limitations). Attempting to create a WAV file bigger than this results in a corrupt file. If you still have the Audacity project (I hope you have), then you can export it in some other format, such as FLAC, OGG, MP3 or RF...

Re: conversion loss rates
Someone said on this forum that if you convert 128 kbps to 128 kbps, it will effectively cut the quality in half to 64. That sounds like an exaggeration, though there will be some loss of sound quality. Is there any conversion loss table that shows what the loss would be with other combinations? I ...

Re: Multiple export without changing metadata
Would you like it if Audacity stored metadata per track Realistically I don't see that happening any time soon. Although it sounds like a simple enough idea, it raises countless questions about how to handle the metadata if, for example, audio is copied from one track to another, or if tracks are m...
