Re: Hardware choices for maximum performance of effects/filt
Audacity is mostly a single core, 32-bit application. It may make more use of multiple cores in the future, but that's dependent on someone doing the development work (which is likely to be a substantial amount of difficult work). The speed of effects vary tremendously depending on which effect. Nyq...

Re: Can't export to external USB drive
Best to post new questions as new topics rather than tag them onto the end of someone else's topic. I've split your post to a new topic and given it a relevant title. Depending on the format of your Passport Pro, the full path name may be too long (too many characters). Try exporting to the local ha...

Re: cdda frames correction
Last time I made any gapless CDs was with K3B (I use Linux). Previously (years ago) I have used both Nero and CDBurnerXP to make gapless CDs. I stopped using Nero because it became too bloated, and I stopped using CDBurnerXP because I stopped using Windows. Probably more helpful to get suggestions f...

Re: cdda frames correction
I think you're making hard work of a simple task. I've made many gapless CDs that play perfectly continuously from one track to the next, and I've never bothered splitting on CDA boundaries, I just let the CD authoring application handle it by selecting the "no gap" option. Some more primi...

Re: Relaxation measurements
Great ! Thanks. That helps a lot. If you have a lot of these to do, it would be possible to use Nyquist to measure between the peaks. It would of course take time and effort to write an appropriate Nyquist script, so it's only really worth the effort if you have a lot of recordings to measure, othe...

Re: Relaxation measurements
I would suspect that the majority of the sound picked up by the microphone will come from the ball rather than the bat. This is definetely wrong. The same ball, different blades, different RF values. Striking a gong with a hard mallet produces a very different frequency spectrum from striking it wi...

Re: Relaxation measurements
I need the time intervall between two spikes plotted vs time. No need to resort to printing and measuring with a ruler. Select the audio from one spike to the next, then read the length of the selection from the Selection Toolbar at the bottom of the main Audacity window. In the example below, the ...

Re: Is A Computer Inaccurate for Music Editing?
I've not used a UCA-222, just the UCA-202. As far as I can tell, the two models appear to be extremely similar (other than the colour). There's a lot of technical information and test results for D/A performance of the UCA-202 here: http://nwavguy.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/behringer-uca202-review.html ...

Re: Speaker volume slider effects recording volume
I presume that you selected "Stereo Mix" or "What U Hear" as the recording device? I also presume that you are using a laptop computer with built in speakers. You're not doing it wrong. Stereo Mix and What U Hear are two names for the same thing. "What U Hear" is a bit ...

Re: Changing Treble Tone Of A Recording
You can adjust the tone using the Equalization effect: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/equalization.html To make the tone less harsh without sounding dull, you need to reduce the frequency band that is causing the harshness. Probably easiest to use the "Graphic EQ" view and use the Prev...
