Re: Windows 8.1 Dell Laptop won’t open Audacity

Yes you need to update the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. For the current version of Audacity you probably need "x86: vc_redist.x86.exe" from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0 This is an educa...

Re: Gain track

Foobar2000 (free) can add ReplayGain tags to files. It can also do it to batches (whole directories) of files.
You can get it here: https://www.foobar2000.org/

Re: Audacity Running Extremely Slow

which makes it work fine for 1 task but then dies again What do you by "1 task"? Do you mean like: Apply the Amplify effect works, but then anything else is extremely slow, or do you mean that it works fine for one project, but then the problem comes back when you start another project? A...

what about the cut-off lines that appear at the location of the previous effect?
That's normal. Other generators do the same - try it with the "Chirp" generator.

The spectrogram is calculated separately for each audio clip, thus a split will appear as a discontinuity in the spectrogram, even if the waveform continue seamlessly from one clip to the next.

The "gap" in this image: https://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=30828 isn't actually a "gap". The dots represent the temporal positions of the samples. The lines joining the dots are imaginary - just a graphic aid to help visualise the analog waveform. You've just zo...

92 db as Mp3gain I see. It took a bit of digging: https://web.archive.org/web/20110320131341/replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org/calibration.html https://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=ReplayGain_1.0_specification#Reference_level https://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=ReplayGain_2.0_specificatio...

Is there a dev section? Not really. This forum is primarily for "end user support". The most "technical" forum boards are these: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewforum.php?f=6 It could be moved to: " Adding Features to Audacity ". After allowing time for other users ...

Re: Gain track

Hi .. can anyone advise me how to adjust all tracks aiff or Flac to 92 dB without loss of quality? You can't, it's impossible, but probably because you are asking the wrong question. If you are talking about "signal level" (the level of the waveform in Audacity), the dB level should alway...
