Re: Importing files from Google Drive

move the files out of the Google Drive folder on your computer before importing them into Audacity I would strongly recommend doing that. Accessing data over a network is fraught with risks and dangers. If you don't want to risk your work suddenly turning into trash, copy or move the files to a loc...

Re: Why does Audacity require a specific version of Lame?

Why can't Audacity simply allow this version to be used? I don't want to install two versions. When you use the "Export > MP3" option, Audacity accesses "hooks" in the LAME API and sends the audio data to the LAME library, which the LAME library then encodes before Audacity writ...

Re: Regular recording gaps from cassette to PC

Many of the common USB audio devices use a fixed 48000 Hz clock (built into the hardware) for timing when to measure each consecutive sample value. In order to operate at 44100 Hz, the data needs to be resampled from 48000 samples per second to 44100 samples per second. How exactly this conversion h...

Re: Restore file as it waqs before noise reduction

If the project has not been closed since making the changes, use "Undo" (Ctrl+Z or Command+Z on Mac) to step back through the Undo History. If the project has been closed, then it is not possible to undo the Noise Reduction effect and you will need to go back to an earlier backup version o...

Re: LAME Problem

If this is on a school computer and you are a pupil at the school, then you may need to ask your teacher or IT staff to install "LAME for Audacity". Download and installation instructions are available here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame If it's...

Re: Equalizer Fixed Q factor?

I presume you are referring to the " Graphic Eq " mode, in which case the q factor is approximately 4.3 for a gain change of 6 dB. Assuming a sample rate of 44100 Hz, the graphic Eq is a 1/3rd Octave 31 band graphic. "1/3 Octave" refers to the "half gain width", which f...

Re: Regular recording gaps from cassette to PC

I've tested all the USB ports on the PC and the result is the same. Rats, that was my next suggestion. "Next!" Try recording with a sample rate of 48 kHz. To do that: Connect the USB device Launch Audacity Change the "Project Rate" (lower left corner of the main Audacity window)...

That would explain it :)
