In my experience it isn't.
I've run Audacity in XP and Linux on the same hardware and the performance is on the whole very similar.

Audacity has a built-in Equalization effect which is documented in the manual here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/equalization.html

To edit the channels separately you need to "split" the stereo track.

Too late now. You would have needed to turn off the radio before starting the recording.
Please also note that recordings of people made without their knowledge may be illegal.

is there plans to integrate wavpack and make it avaiable in audacity in the near future? Here's a plug-in that labels silences with region labels and puts the start and end time into the label text.
