Re: Combining waves - Schumann resonances
Difficult to say which is "best" as that depends on what you are doing. (sim [beh1 beh2 ...]) is possibly easier to understand and use. build-harmonic would be quite tricky for extreme low (and non-integer) frequencies. As a simple example, to create a waveform that combines 7.83, 14.1 and...

Re: Low noise usb soundcard for sleeptalk recording
more sensitive mic = more mV per Pascal Yes. But it can't be taken in isolation. If a mic is massively sensitive, and huge power handling (both of which are generally 'good') but also has a huge amount of "self noise", then the sensitivity and power handling are in vain. On the other hand...

Re: Making bat recordings audible
Try the Change Pitch effect in Audacity 2.1.3 and enable the "Use high quality" option. Avoid changing the pitch by more than an octave in one pass. If you need more than an octave shift, apply the effect twice. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/change_pitch.html

Re: Low noise usb soundcard for sleeptalk recording
Unfortunately both noise and sensitivity measurement (specifications) are quoted in many different and incompatible forms. Unless you are thoroughly familiar with dBA, V/P, [email protected] SPL, and all the rest, then you may need to rely on reviews. For example, if you see that there are lots of people ask &q...

Re: Low noise usb soundcard for sleeptalk recording
I doubt that a USB mic will be very suitable as USB mics (especially less expensive ones) tend to be optimised for medium to loud voice, and often struggle with quieter voices (and worse for whispers). At around $100 your budget is just about sufficient for a separate mic and USB pre-amp. At the low...

Re: Sounds like Auto Duck is on
i cant find any loudness equalization setting on my computer, which is running windows 10. Did you find any "enhancement" settings for your sound card? Most Windows computers have some enhancement settings. They may be somewhere in the Windows Sound control panel (see: http://wiki.audacit...

Re: Audacity changes my Microphone levels.
I've read this three times and I still can't make sense of it. I use Audacity to record my voice. I like to turn the mic volume down, that way the background noise from my PC fan/bedroom fan can't be heard on the recording. If you turn down the mic, then how does Audacity hear your voice? Making it ...

The current (recommended) version is Audacity 2.1.3. You can get it here: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/1980-f wrote:(Windows 7, Audacity 2.1.2)

Re: Simple way to jump to a point?
Type the required time position into the Selection Toolbar "Selection Start" box. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/selection_toolbar.html If you can't see the start of the selection after doing that, press "Ctrl + [" (hold down the Ctrl key and press the left square bracket key...
