Re: Audacity crashes due to the mouse malfunction:
My guess is that the rapid on/of/on/off... mouse commands are crashing the sound system, and that is taking down Audacity. The sound system should be restarted automatically by the operating system, but Audacity would need to be restarted manually. The one definite thing is that you need a new mouse...

Re: RMS Normalize
Is it suppose to clip like regular "Amplify"? I don't know what you mean. If you amplify too much (above 0 dB), by any means, then it will be distorted (clipped) on playback. Provided that the audio tracks are 32-bit float format (default), amplifying a track beyond 0 dB is not "fata...

Re: Sound file formats and sound quality
I am wondering if when copying a segment or a clip of a track, does the copied clip have a reduction in sound quality? There is not normally reduction in sound quality when copying / pasting within Audacity. Or when saving a copy of a mp3 file There is always loss of sound quality when exporting as...

RMS Normalize
This plug-in is similar to Audacity's Normalize effect, except that rather than amplifying to a specified peak level, it amplifies to a specified RMS level. RMS is the abbreviation for "Root Mean Square" and is a kind of average sound level. The RMS level (colored lighter blue in Audacity)...

Re: Making bat recordings audible
If I don't do the 10kHz lowpass filter after, I see another signal at about 60kHz, just like it's supposed to. Yes. Multiplying two frequencies together will produce the sum and difference of the frequencies. For example, multiplying a 30 kHz sine wave and a 27 kHz sine wave will produce a 3 kHz si...

Re: Making bat recordings audible
I really prefer the heterodyne sound The sound that it produces is more like how we imagine bat calls to sound, isn't it. It retains the "chirp" quality better, as can be seen in the spectrum, and interestingly, one of the chirps appears to have two distinct tones within it (which is not ...

Re: Making bat recordings audible
The example was in http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Basics:_The_Audacity_Nyquist_Prompt_With_SAL, near the bottom. Should that page be altered to mention the Legacy tick box? That's quite an old page. It should be updated to use *track*. There's a lot of old examples floating around, which...

It works! Of course it works  This is where you say what's good about it, what's not so good, what's useful, what's not so useful, what settings work best for you. what settings you find useless, and any other suggestions so that it can be as good as possible before we upload it to the plu...

Re: 'inserting' in the middle of a track
How many questions? This is very confusing for anyone trying to help. For future reference, please keep to ONE question per forum topic. How do I 'insert' a segment or silence, while keeping both the track and labels synced and shifting together after the point of 'insertion'/generation/pasting To c...

Re: zoomh5 not able to interface with pc windows 7
it still doesn't recognize the device... now let me start audacity and see if it sees it If Windows does not recognise the device, then Audacity will not be able to use it. You must get the device working properly in your system first. Audacity can't use a device if the device is not working proper...
