Re: High Pass Filter Causes Gain Changes
"Gain" and "peak amplitude" are not the same. The High Pass and Low Pass filters are IIR Butterworth filters (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterworth_filter). Assuming that most of the frequency content of the audio is above 70 Hz, your chosen filter will reduce the overall gai...

Re: Plugins specifically VST-GVST
See here in the manual for information about installing VST effects for Audacity: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_effect_generator_and_analyzer_plug_ins_on_windows.html#vst_install Note in particular: On Windows Audacity is a 32-bit application so will not see 64-bit versions of VST pl...

Re: Looking for a De-Reverb plug in
I've not used it myself, but there are several demonstrations on YouTube.
Re: Timeline
I do not want to change any of the characteristics of the file just want to be able to see more detail. You need to "zoom in". There are several ways to do that. I like to use "Ctrl + Mouse Wheel", but other methods are described here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/zooming....

Re: Recording Desktop Audio

The project is no longer run by Rogue Amoeba. It has passed back to the original developer Matt Ing...

Re: endless loop - gaps
I've attached a copy of the file. Loops perfectly for me in Audacity. Also, I wasn't able to find a zero crossing point (t doesn't look like there is one). Not relevant for white noise. It's "random" noise, so the loop point can be anywhere so long as the track is long enough to not have ...

Re: Looking for a De-Reverb plug in
Can anyone recommend a good, preferably free, de-reverb plugin? I'm not sure that a "good" de-reverb effect exists, free or commercial. I've had some success with the "deverb" effect in the experimental software "Postfish" (sadly no longer maintained), but hanging up a...

See here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 31#p325431petenoak wrote:Can you apply this to Panning? If a track is panned all the way left in Audacity does this reduce the volume (RMS and peak) of that track by half or ~6db? What about a 50% pan to the left?
