Re: Problems Opening Audio Files in Audacity
I us Audacity, 2.2 Ianyway, I'm not sure how many typos you have there, but there has never been a 2.2 release of Audacity. I see REGISTER AUDACITY Audacity is free and there is no registration. The current version of Audacity is 2.1.3 and is available here: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/ I'...

Re: Attack/Decay Time(sec) Not showing up in Noise Removal
I'm guessing that either you have either recently updated from a very old version of Audacity, or you are trying to follow a tutorial for an obsolete version of Audacity. The old Noise Removal effect was retired in 2014 and replace with a new "Noise Reduction" effect. The new effect works ...

Re: creating trigger from bad sound acoustic bass drum (tric
What I'm attempting to do is use the audio of the recorded bass drum to fire a trigger into an Alesis D4 Drum module I presume that the D4 triggers on the start of the trigger sound, and isn't too fussy about what the sound is, so long as it has a clean start and sufficient amplitude? ooking at the...

Re: Will not record ruler not at zero Latency issue
I presume that you were trying to record something into a project that already contained one or more tracks, and when you pressed the record button, that message popped up instead of recording? If that's the case, then most likely what happened is that the recording stalled for some reason, so a ver...

Re: Reduce voice not eliminate
I personally don't use the built-in vocal remover much, as I use a Python script which does the job and keeps the results in stereo, and usually can remove the vocals extensively and it works on mono tracks, as well. The "Vocal Reduction and Isolation" effect in Audacity keeps the result ...

Re: .wav file to be converted to mp3
I have recently installed Audacity version 2.0.3 That version is over 4 years old. The current version is 2.1.3 and is available here: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/ To export as MP3, you need to install LAME. Instructions are here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_and_updating_...

Re: Newbie asking for a kickstart, please!
I thought that 1 bit per sample meant the value of the wave would increase 1 step up the 'ladder' per sample of bitrate That is almost what PCM does. For simplicity, if we imagine 3 bit unsigned audio data, and we think of the analogue output as "voltage" (which ultimately it is), then 00...

Re: How do i make it sound like it does on the software?
i didn't think it'd be so complicated It isn't complicated. If you export from Audacity as 16-bit WAV, then the exported file is virtually identical to the audio in Audacity. If you apply Noise Reduction, or any other effect, then you change the audio data and it will probably sound different. Even...

Re: Audacity "connects the dots" when you zoom in
I've moved this discussion to the developer's mailing list , and there appears to be general agreement for adding stem plots as an option. I hope you (brian-armstrong) will join the discussion there and that we can introduce the feature in the next Audacity release, and progress / refine it as we go...

Re: How do I write-protect a particular track?
Try 3 others, less weighty. I've got a better idea: Rather than us guessing, why don't you tell us what exactly you are trying to do? I've started with one track. I've created another, empty track. I will copy&paste bit from track 1 to track 2. As I do so, I want track 1 to be locked so I don't...
