That's a very low level. Try generating a tone (Generate menu > Tone) with the default 440 Hz 0.8 amplitude.

Re: Noise Gate with a sidechain?

I was wondering how to setup the detector audio track to control the track to be processed, but I've started to use the Auto-Duck (for a different job) and putting the detector track UNDER the track to be processed works just fine... Funnily enough, that is one aspect of Auto Duck that I really don...

Re: Audacity crashes

I just got a new audio interface RME Babyface Pro that I'd like to use with Audacity, but I'm getting some serious latency issues. I'm running this through a MacBook Air running Mac OS Sierra 10.12.1. I'm using Audacity 2.1.3. The Sample rate is running at 44,100Hz. My microphone (Sennheiser 416) i...

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech

I guess the issue is that Audacity does not check to see if the defaults actually changed and if so update the defaults. It doesn't, and what's worse, it retains the default setting even if the plug-in is removed (either via the Plug-in manager, or physically removed). A possible fix might be to un...

Re: Noise Gate with a sidechain?

Topic moved to "Adding Features". Thank you for your suggestion. We already have a feature request logged: "Built-in Noise Gate Should include real-time preview and optional side chain filter, where the trigger for the Gate would be another track or a filtered version of the current t...

Not surprising, because "sin.txt" is not 16-bit signed PCM.
Where did that file come from?

Re: buggy Import RAW Data

Note that Audacity attempts to guess the raw data format, but it's no more than an educated guess. It is not possible to make this guess 100% accurate, which is why audio files usually contain header information. Please test importing this file as RAW data (you can change the file extension if you w...

Re: Blue yeti and a stand.

Floor standing boom stands can be awkward to position for desk use, but offer much better isolation from noises that originate from or on the desk (such as keyboard noises, putting down your coffee mug and so on). Another option is to suspend the mic via a "spider" (https://en.wikipedia.or...
