Re: Windows 10 High Screeching Noise When Recording
I could make a blind guess, but better if you could post a short audio sample to demonstrate the problem. Record a few seconds with you talking, and include a few seconds of just background noise. About 5 seconds total will be ideal. Export the recording in WAV format . See here for how to post the ...

Re: Moving only ahighlighed section on the track?
You can move individual audio clips, provided that there is empty space to move them to.

Re: Custom DTMF generator
Thanks for your contribution aliask. I don't think this plug-in is sufficiently mainstream to be part of the standard Audacity bundle, but no doubt it will be useful for some, so I'd like to put it into our 'official' on-line library http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Download_Nyquist_Plugins As you ...

Re: Reset all settings?
one channel of my mic monitoring is missing; it would be good to get this restored. As well, I have a second channel available in my recording space and I only need the one at the time. I think it's more likely to be a sound system setting than an Audacity setting (though you've not supplied much i...

Re: Reset all settings?
The easiest way to reset Audacity on Windows, is to re-run the installer and select the option to "Reset Preferences" during the installation.
The installer is available here if you no longer have a copy: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/

"Error: failed to load shared library avformat-55.dll." "Error: failed to find compatible FFmpeg libraries." "Error: can't open the file X (the system can't find the file)." Those errors are not related. They are just saying that you don't have the optional FFmpeg libr...

Re: 10 bit, 12 kHz uncompressed no header output
Good point Doug. I guess freepiston will not want the RIFF headers, so yes, export 16-bit RAW rather than WAV.DVDdoug wrote:Actually, if you export to RAW you'll get a file without a header.

Re: 10 bit, 12 kHz uncompressed no header output
Nothing "universal", but I presume that freepiston has some way of reading raw "bits" into his device.Gale Andrews wrote:but are there universal commands for ignoring least significant bits (LSBs)?
Bits can be "masked out" with "logical and".

Re: 10 bit, 12 kHz uncompressed no header output
12 kHz sample rate is simple enough. Just set the "Project Rate" (lower left corner of the main Audacity window) to 12000, then export as WAV. For 10 or 12 bit, you can export from Audacity as 16-bit WAV, and ignore 6 or 4 LSBs when you read the data into your device. I guess you could try...

Re: Audio Recording Issue
Does this have anything to do with audiobooks? Cause ill put the Audio clip in the program Filmora with the 9 minute video and its like slightly over 15 minutes of audio. Have you timed it with a watch to see how long it really is? My guess is that Filmora is counting the time too fast. I'm also gue...
