Re: selecting section within track for editing

No matter where I click in the track the cursor appears as the same double-headed arrow and it grabs the whole track. You either have the "Time shift tool" selected or the "Multi-tool". You need to use the normal "Selection tool". Press the F1 key to switch to the sele...

Gale Andrews wrote:I am unclear whether Steve's attempt at importing "80088.wav" into Audacity on Linux is actually comprehensible
It would be comprehensible if I understood the language.
It's only like poor telephone quality, but it is clearly a man and woman talking in a non-English language.

Re: How to search and delete duplicate tracks from streaming

There's no automated way, though they are usually quite easy to see by looking at the waveform. Adjust the zoom level (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/zooming.html) so that you can see about 10 minutes of audio, then scroll along the recording, adding labels (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/la...

Re: Finding a sound snippet

1) Duplicate the track. The original version will be there for listening to, the duplicate will be for making labels. To duplicate the track, select it (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audacity_selection.html), then press Ctrl+D 2) Select the duplicate copy only, and apply the "Vocal Reducti...

Re: group insert audio files

Sorry, but I still don't get a clear picture of what exactly you want to do, so I don't know how to advise you. Perhaps someone else can guess what you mean, or perhaps you could actually describe what it is that you are trying to do.

What do you mean "embedded"? Do you want them "mixed in" like companies often do to "watermark" demo tracks?

Re: group insert audio files

How are you playing the songs?
Can you just add the files to your media player's play list?

Re: Debian repo

I don't think that necessarily obviates the possibility of having a (latest) version of Audacity available which runs against the latest libraries available in Debian Quite so. The most recent Audacity could be built against Debian Stable and packaged as a deb, which should then install and run fin...
