Re: Cross panning?

Note that you can also use the "Adjustable Fade" effect if you need more control: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/adjustable_fade.html

Re: Live band - clipping at start and recording level adjust

As there is "one" change that you wish to compensate for, I'd suggest that you use the "Envelope Tool" http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/envelope_tool.html If you imagine that this is your track: firsttrack000.png Then you would use the Envelope tool to bring down the level of t...

Re: Live band - clipping at start and recording level adjust

You may be able to restore the clipped peaks in the latter part of the recording using ClipFix http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/clip_fix.html
From your description it sounds like the first part of the show is beyond rescue.

Re: bit perfect recording

"Bit perfect" means that you can edit and save an audio file haw many times you wish w/o lose a single original bit. Yes, and you stated many posts back that in this respect Audacity is "bit perfect". The "problem" that you have demonstrated is that if pass clipped aud...

Gale Andrews wrote: I understand that Audacity shows clipping when touching 0 dB. So if gcompari's files are normalized to 0 dB, they will show "clipping" in Audacity.
No two ways about it - the right channel. It is very obviously clipped.

Re: Cross panning?

At the moment it's just a mono file 1) Import the file into Audacity 2) Duplicate the track (Ctrl + D) 3) Apply a fade-out to the original track 4) Apply a fade-in to the duplicate track 5) From the drop-down menu of the upper track, select "Make Stereo Track" (see: http://manual.audacity...

Re: default audio spectrogram

It sounds as if you may have inadvertently selected the "Multi-tool".
The quickest way back to the normal "Selection tool" is to press F1 or click the "Selection tool" button.

Re: bit perfect recording

this kind of track maximize the S/R, minimizes the quantization error (THD) and grants the ADC/DAC to use the maximum linearity region of conversion (THD/IMD). If you amplify by anything but a power of 2 with an integer format, there has to be rounding, thus Normalizing adds distortion (albeit an i...

Re: bit perfect recording

Is that not the point of Steve's explanation of what is happening? Absolutely. If the maximum sample value is 0 dB, then the inter-sample peak will be a little over 0 dB, which is thus driving into clipping. Some part of gcompari's system is protecting against over zero dB by limiting sample values...

Re: About pitch less than a half tone

There's a plug-in here that is pretty good at finding the pitch of a single note: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyqui ... tch_Detect
Installation instructions are here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Downl ... ns#install
