The files libavformat.so.57 and libavformat.so.57.83.100 are on my system in the /var/lib/snapd/snap/spotify/41/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu folder.

That library may not be accessible to Audacity because of the Snapd security restrictions.

How was Audacity installed? Is that also a Snapd package?

I had to have my account activated manually via contact us link because I use outlook.com as my primary email for all of my online account. The admin sent me an email and I asked them why outlook.com was rejected and they said they migrated to a new IP and it takes time for them to trust the new IP...

There is no such message in the Crossfade Clips effect.
What exactly is the error message?

You could try updating your sound card drivers, but if it works OK with MME then I'd just leave the drivers alone and use MME.
